Why did they knock down so much of the original Scotland road? War damages or was it to reroute the a59?Love looking at old photos of my home city so thought we could have a thread to post such images. Always amazes me that whilst people, clothing, vehicles etc change with time many of the old buildings survive through the times.
I’ve been born & raised in Liverpool, here’s one of famous Scotland Road. Bit of trivia, but the longest corridor on the Titanic was actually called Scotland Road.
Before anybody asks, that’s not me on the crossing!!

Not just LCC. Must have been weird philosophies driving post war urban planning. A lot of city centres were ‘redeveloped’ and have never recovered. Think most new city centre projects now look minging as well.Because LCC have a long history of Urban Vandalism?
Aye was born there just over 67 years ago.….Mill Road Maternity Hospital, Everton. I know a few of us on here started life in this place. Evertonians born in Everton;

Postcard from 1912 taken about 200 metres away from where we now live. Tbh, hasn't changed a vast amount over the years. Pretty much all of the buildings are still recognisable and the main difference is the more modern suburban rail link.
