Many years later ( 1992ish?) I had to take mrs degsy and her arl Ma to the bingo there (this pic was taken from in front of the Red Lion...the oldest Pub in Garston...1750something iirc.
Now recently gone
Anyway: my options were; go back to Speke. Sit in the Red Lion or go to the bingo...which was licensed
Having never been to the bingo I went there.
The both got the full 6 card deal...I just got the one...you have to concentrate with 6 because every number is on there...only one card wins I said, who needs 6?

Absolutely horrendous, but nobody thought that at the time.I held the stick for the dolphin to jump over in Garston baths, that year !
Looking back, it was shameful, to have dolphins doing tricks in swimming pools.

From The Alexandra up by Horrocks to The Garston Hotel I can 'remember' 8 including 3 in side streets, I've missed a few I'm sure.Garston village was a cracking night out a the weekends.

Everything is house or flat everywhere you look andy.First job after leaving school was in here… Wells Kelo, we used to make garden gym play sets, dolls prams and loads of other stuff. Great place to work back then. Knocked down now and replaced by a new street of houses and flats
