Brilliant deal for Southampton like if he manages to stay fit, as for why we haven't been in for him, maybe we have and balked at the wages or maybe we have another target and feel confident on getting them in instead

I can't see wages being a problem. Saints aren't exactly known for paying huge waves.

Odds are we weren't ever interested. I'm not sure why though.

Christ, £4m seems a bit of a steal for Austin. Only 1 season in the Premier League though, so he could possibly do a Jelavic.

Maybe we do have something in the pipeline mate, not necessarily talking about you know who, but got a sneaky feeling we may see a forward arriving late in the window on loan

To be honest I think it was just excellent business from Southampton to keep it under the wraps. Reckon if other clubs knew they could get him or that price they would have been all over it.

which doesn't explain why QPR didn't leak it to drum up more interest and drive the price up higher...

said in the other thread main reason why we wouldn't chase him is wages. He could have a pick of a new club in a few months so whoever wanted him now had to pay more to him. is he worth 50-60 k a week? considering he is all but one year classed as a championship striker?

he is a decent striker and perhaps prove to be a bargain at that price. But he still serves a gamble to anyone

We might not of had Room to add his wages to the wage bill. Especially once we bring in Yarmolenko.

Plus he'll be guaranteed starts there and think he wanted to stay down south
