You think Real Madrid's squad right now is better than City's? As that's essentially what you're saying.
Did you think Real Madrid's squad was better than United's in 2009? Having a transcendent player takes you up a level and as good as Kane is he isn't that. But you're paying like he is.

You're turning very Zat lately.

City + Kane is better than Madrid + Mbappe since Mbappe, as proven in the Euros, can't win things single-handedly.

Back to my very original point: Harry Kane, in today's market, for £160m is deal you do if you can do it.

I think it's pretty naive to think Madrid can't build a squad around Mbappe though. You're talking about tomorrow and I'm talking about 2026. Are City going to still have a better squad then? Maybe. Is Mbappe going to be better than Harry Kane? Yes.

Why would I care about 2026 in 2021? Why would City, trying to win their first CL, care about 2026 more than 2021/22 season?

Real Madrid need to do a far bigger rebuild than City do.

Anyway, bored of this conversation now.

Well Mbappe is the far better player right now too. That's what makes this silly. City paying over the odds for someone who doesn't even make the World XI right now and opening it up for their rivals to sign better players with longer shelf lives. It's poor.

No doubt he's great for the brand. Having the England captain in your team is a big deal.
I honestly think if the £160m fee is correct it's way over the top for what he's worth relative
to Haarland and/or Mbappe.

No guarantee Haaland or mbappe would settle in England....Mbappe's attitude has been questioned alot lately...

Probable that portions of that 160m fee are reliant on trophies...

But it is mad money, no question.....and 400k a week is hard for any normal working people to get their round..

I know the English think a lot of their league and believe it to be a special force that not everyone can handle, but Mbappe would be fine. Especially playing for City.

@PaulPowersTash please don’t come on here whinging about City going out and signing Kane when we’re currently scratching around the bargain bin and free transfers to bolster our squad.

READ THE ROOM FFS!
Not whinging mate. Just chatting football. That's what people do on football forums.
If we sign him then it stops someone else from getting him I guess. But I'm just not to fussed
about him. That's my viewpoint. The propsed fee of £160m is excessive in this climate.
Nothing more. He'll be good for the brand in the UK but not outside of it. Who outside of
the UK would buy a shirt with 'Kane' on the back? So no good for shirts sales or merchandising.
Any young City fans will have 'Foden' on the back of their shirts before Kane that's for sure.
Try some discussion and debate. You never know, you might just enjoy it ;)

I think you might be bang on there.
I reckon £120m plus addons taking it to the £160m.
Who knows, might also be a player swap involved as well?
£400K is genuinely obscene.

Mbappe and Haaland would be just fine in a league where Patrick Bamford scored 17 goals last season
