Now then Owen is a betting man so we take him 3 mill,His wages should be 30 grand a week if he plays,5 grand for every goal he scores,if he scores more than 20 for the season his goal bonus will be doubled and if we don,t get in the top 4 at the end of the season he pays the lot back. That should see how committed he is playing for the blues:lol::lol::lol:

On a free? Get him. He'll be back in the England squad in no time. Him and Yak? On fire? Deary me, you'd have to slap clamps to their feet to stop them scoring. Owen's is still a big name draw too. Boost the profile in Europe.

You know it makes sense Mickey lid. Yak, Saha, Owen? I dont care what if you think they're all crocked - you see that in the team sheet, you **** a brick.

You know this is guranteed to be the big transfer rumour with our club this summer. We paid more money for Saha in a 2 year deal (rumoured to be a couple mill). Owen lives practically down the round, at a push you can give a mill signing of fee, 30k an week with an extra 10k a week for games played and a few bob for goals scored. A contract that works for both player and club.

The only risk is his injury problems. But for a player of his calibre, for that price, its worth taking IMO. Its a bargin.

And guess what? There'd still be cash in the kitty for a big money signing! (hopefully)

Just like people do when they see Martins, Viduka and Owen?

I don't think he'd be a good signing, even for free. Too injury prone, doesn't seem arsed about football anymore. Would attract unwanted media attention and double page spreads in the Mail whenever he was dropped. I wouldn't want us to play him ahead of Yakubu nor would I want us to change our successful formation to accommodate him.

Agree with that. He's a shadow of his former self. Let him go to a mid-table team. I also think he's done the dirty on the Geordies. They've spent countless millions on him and had very little return. I think Owen owes them. He did the dirty on Liverpool as well. Then he tried to come crawling back when it didn't work out in Madrid.

Viduka is overweight and pretty much over. Martin's is always a threat IMO. Martin's and Owen are pretty much the main threat for the Barcodes.

But that's not the point. Just look at Yak's and Owen's striker record. Its all about options and squad depth. We dont have the money to be throwing it about on strikers so when the option to take a player like Owen for a small fee, why not do it? We've gotta wheel and deal.

Name me a better striker for, at a push, £2mill? Its like with Saha - yes, injury prone. But has he practially won us games on his own? About 3-4 times this season he has, he's come on, scored vital goals. If Owen can do that, its a low-cost risk to take. They have match winning qualities that you'd want in Europe or cup finals.

Or are we still crying out to buy Darren Bent for £10million?

A free transfer for a 29-year-old who would command a starting place when fit who would instantly raise the profile of the club, especially useful when we are hoping to attract investment. Complete professional who would fit in very well and would have a point to prove.

Its a no brainer in that respect.

If he would accept a massive pay cut then that outlines his intentions.

Europa league is bigger next season lads, its all about squad depth. A world class striker on a free who could give us options? He's scored 10 goals this season for Newcastle - if he done the same for us he would be our leading goalscorer...

I say yes.

To paraphrase Owen himself from the last time this was a serious proposition: I'm not sure this would be the best move for the club 'at this stage in his career'.
Pay per play maybe, but only if he apologises for snubbing us before.

Didn't Newcastle offer a higher transfer fee?

Could be. I thought they just offered him higher wages.
Either way he chose to go there and said that Everton wasn't a club he wanted to play for 'at this stage in his career'.
