Different players mate, id see them both doing a job, Saha prob has more well honed skill and techniuqe and can score a few different type of goals, where as Owen relies more on his engine, positioniong, going for second or maybe balls and finding space in the box.

Options and choices lads! We've a few lads coming of the wage bill, if one Owen = AVDM + Castillo in wages, im happy with that.

As I said, just my opinion.

Louis Saha scored 5 goals in 9 starts for Manchester Utd in his last season.

Louis Saha scored 8 goals in 14 starts for Everton this season.

Louis Saha has scored 13 goals in 23 starts in the last two seasons.

Where this 16 comes from I don't know.

Depends on how we're going to play doesn't it? It seems to me that if we want to get the best out of Cahill and/or Fellaini then we play 4-5-1 or a variant of it, ie with just one striker. Owen has shown that this isn't when he's at his best. Put him with his back to goal and he's half the player Saha is in similar circumstances.

He's a decent player, I don't think he's anywhere near worth the money he's on, but I don't think he suits our style of play at all so it would be money poorly spent for me, in an area where we're not actually that badly off. Look at our goal difference and it's far better than any other team below us in the league. It doesn't suggest we're having problems scoring goals, despite playing much of the season without a striker.

Midfield is more of a priority for me if we're going to spend a few million on a player each season.

Jo for me.

Younger, less injury prone and can upfront on his own (he basically fits into our system).

I can see where your coming from, the fees the thing though really.

I also expect Baxter to fit into that hole at some point.

To be fair i would be a bit dissapointed if Owen was to be our Marquee signing, and we didnt look to improve the midfeild centrally and on the right.

I think Baxter will start outwide, he's played there for the reserves this season and Moyes started him on the left against West Brom. He played there in Pre-season aswell.

He play play right, left and centre which is useful, hopefully he'll come through next season.

I know, I know. But just out of interest, lets say he is available for the reported £3m and £85,000 a week (say £55,000 and topped up with appearences), would you see that as a good deal?

[Edit] On a free, for the reported £55,000 a week, would you see that as a good deal?

The wage is to much, if take another 40k off then go for it, he could do some good if gets fit and starts enjoying his football again.

Could be mate, lets hope so, the best games ive seen him in were in the hole!

He played there agianst Blackburn no?

Personally would prefer Jô on loan, but wouldn't be completely against Owen as an option. Guess the loan fee for Jô will be a hefty one though and there are more pressing needs in midfield. Would love to have another back up striker on our books though. With the ANC coming up and injury prone strikers Saha and Vaughan as back up to Yakubu, it certainly wouldn't be a luxury problem.

All these stats...Today, I would take Saha over Owen.

In our team, let's be honest, we don't create an awful lot.

Owen thrives of being put through, and things on a plate for him.

Saha can make something for himself, and has shown that with his goals.
