It will be interesting to see how RK reacts to last Saturday. Which players he blames , rather than the more obvious scapegoats that some fans select.

Last Saturday has shown us just how big a rebuilding job the manager has in front of him. I think we may see practically a complete clear out over the next two or three windows and the fees from players like Lukaku and maybe even Barkley used to finance a rebuilding programme.

Listening to Moshiri's interview yesterday and his comments on Koeman being ruthless and not sentimental, I'd be concerned if I were Jags.

Hands down one of my favourite 'Moyes-era' players, but he looks incredibly unfit at the moment.

Sad to see, but dare I say his days as a top-flight centre-back are behind him?

The issue is pace.

Distin suffered it at about 36 and now - probably due to injuries - Jags is suffering it a few years earlier.

So, against teams that don't look to get in behind, it isn't as much of an issue.

Now, most teams do 'try to get in behind', but very few are actually very good at it.

Bournemouth, strangely enough, did it well with their energetic forward line, and that created space for Wilshere and Arter in midfield.

Same goes for Chelsea, who obviously tore us to shreds.

With Williams being slow (but very good), it's vital we have a fresh pair of legs coming in soon. The main problem then becomes Funes Mori though, as I don't think he's reliable enough.

Holgate is an option, but he may not be ready yet (basing that on the Norwich game), so I'd say centre-back is an area that needs addressing pretty urgently.

And with us having moved for Kone and Koulibaly, it's clear the club do know that.

Talking about players with legs gone, Ashley Williams is shot to pieces, championship player at best
I disagree mate. I think he's finding his bearings here atm. He also needs someone compatible alongside him. There's no blend to our CD unit. Although I doubt Koeman sees Funes Mori as that partner, he's the best option we have right now to go alongside Williams as he at least has pace. If Koeman doesn't fancy F-M though, he should go out and get Van Dijk or similar, because we need an out and out stopper like Williams plus a CB who can play out from the back.

Agree on this Dave.

Though Funes looked slower than Jagielka (if possible) the other day, all-round he does add a bit of balance and it worked quite well vs W.Ham.

He is pap on the ball, though. So we really could do with another.

If you get chance, check out Sule from Hoffenheim.

He'd be my hipster shout.

I'll do that mate. Also (one I've talked of a few times here) the lad Chelsea have loaned out to Gladbach: Andreas Christensen. He's class in the Stones mould but actually defends too - voted Gladbach's top player of last season. Chelsea rejected a move by Gladbach to make his move permanent for £14M. If we get in there with a bigger offer maybe it'll shift their attitude. Can play right FB as well.

Ive mentioned him a few times on here...good player. I think Mori and Williams are both left sided...at least Williams although right footed (i think) has always been a LCB. So ideally Holgate would partner him.

I think Moshiri talking about matching Napolis asking price for Koulibaly at £60mil is interesting...if hes rated by us at that level then we should be in for him again...if its true of course

Another African player, so I doubt it'd make sense this window coming up.

£60M for a defender. No chance. Fantasy stuff that!

Well, if we had serious money and wanted a superstar centre back to push the champions league teams then he's my choice. The money is silly of course but hes basically a bigger faster stronger version of what Stones aspires to be...truly world class like Thuram and a one man army.

So, with that in mind if Moshiri was telling the truth then we should make a public bid of £60mil in Jan for him. Shows other players we are aiming high and pushes out own players to perform.

As its the ACON in Jan then perhaps we may have more of a chance to get him as napoli are 6th and will want to improve their team to get up the table now higuain is gone.

If we got him...id actually come on board with the regime as hes one player who could be a talisman for the club.

I dont believe Napoli refused £60mil for him though.

Stopper, you can say that again. Should of stopped back in the changing rooms or even better back at Swansea
