Only yourself
I am joining the many armchair supporters on here from 20/21. My sons will carry on the great tradition indicated by my user name, provided they are allowed back into the ground anytime soon. Overall it was an exciting 67+ years for which I am grateful.

Seen him a few times in the Bournemouth relegation game today, maybe not enough to form a solid opinion, but he looks very workmanlike and not fast.

I might be misinformed, but he's had a falling out with his club when they needed him in the midst of a relegation battle, mercenary?

If we pay over the odds for him and an absolute fortune in wages, he should fit right in.

Saints aren't in a relegation fight mate. Plus he only said he wasn't extending his contract, the club are the ones who decided that meant he couldn't be captain anymore.

I know he had bad injury mate and it will take time to get over physically and Mentally.
but look at him pre injury, he wasn’t great 5/6 very good games in 35-ish.
Some people are blinkered to some players after they’ve had a few good games.
I honestly don’t get the hype
This.

Gomes had his best game at Anfield when we lost 1-0, absolutely ran the midfield.

He just went proper off the boil after that to 1/4-5 kindof player.

He's average most the time with the ability to occasionally really good or really bad. But lately the really bad has shown up more often and at that point you've got a real problem.

He's also not currently in a position to succeed as he's woeful out of possession and is under a lot of pressure not to be in this 4-4-2. Part of getting Hojbjerg is it hopefully would open up a possible 3 man midfield.

Seems we misunderstand what “good” looks like for a player like Hojbjerg. He’s been asked to be the ball winner for a team that often presses - and he’s damn good at that

It's Bournemouth who were relegated today to and when Southampton and Hojlberg had their disagreement, Southampton were very definitely in a relegation battle.

The club may have took away his armband, but I'll should think it was a considered action, clubs who in their relegation position don't generally drop healthy players that they need. I'm thinking there was just a little bit more to it than a contract not signed. Southampton would have just humoured him and played him considering the dire straights they were in and then sold him on in the summer (for a profit).

This is what EFC is doing now with all the crap we have in our team, no point declaring them all crap and threatening to sell them.

Southampton were 7 points ahead of 18th when the restart happened and they had 6 clubs below them by at least 5 points. They weren't in a relegation battle. In fact they had 34 points which might end up being more than what the team that goes down in 18th finishes the season with.

If he has the choice of us v spurs then it is obvious where he would want to go. The only sniff we would have is if he wanted to play for Carlo, but you would have to think that is highly unlikely.

Sissoko MkII.

This is exactly the problem we will have as a bottom half of the table side. As a club we have very little attraction.
