Sam Allardyce has always said nice things about us, particularly in relation to our history and our fans. He definitely "gets" us.

And unlike Dyche he's worked with some big name players, with both England and Newcastle.

He's also never been relegated, unlike Dyche and Moyes.

I'm just not sure, though, that he's good enough to take us to the next level. He did turn Bolton into a top 6 side, but that was a while back.

No doubt about that.

Unlike the last character, Sam would feel privileged to manage Everton.

And Everton would be a destination for him......not a staging post or a stepping stone.

Of the two, my preference would be for Dyche over Sam.

Sam suddenly walked out on Palace - having done a top emergency job -citing stress and age and may decide to
do the same at EFC. I like Sam in that he makes the best of his resources and has no worries in dropping sacred cows.

Dyche has done a tremendous job at Burnley and if things go well or lets say not too bad then he could be around for years.

But either would do a good job.

Interesting point about the stress, if he felt it at Palace thats nothing compared to what it would be like with us

I would take him until the end of the season, and see where we are from there. Tuchel would be my number one, we need to buy some sexy Germans to get us playing football

There is a sky article talking about 4 remaining coaches in the frame ...
Sam A
A N Other prem manager
David U
And an also unnamed top European coach

The article also speculates that Sam will be offered the job until the end of the season ....

Knowing Sams history and his comments about stress and his age being the reason for his walking out on Palace ...where despite what you may think ... he did an amazing turn around with a beaten demoralised squad
Perhaps he has been asked to do to a season long rebuild of moral ( he has been talking the Everton moral as priority to the press ) and get the squad from the fractured bunch of individuals back into a team tgat performs as one .
Perhaps that's the plan with the unnamed top European coach ho may have said he wants a break until summer popping a few phone calls to Sam to keep in touch with developments until he steps in for the 2017-18 season ....
Gentle men I give you the Sam Alardyce Carlo Ancelotti option

Big Sam - can't say I like the guy or that he would be my choice but he seems to have a way of bringing a dressing room together and putting a bit of fight into a team. Wouldn't expect the quality of football to improve much but confidence shown by the players will. If he's the man then I'll get behind the team and look forward to the return of a bit of stability.

I can't stand the man, I don't like his style of play but I think he is an effective manager and would have done a good job at England.

I'd have him over Dyche as I think they are both similar in style but going for Dyche would cost a bit more and leave us with him long term.

Bring Sam in, climb the table, say goodbye in the summer and go for your Tuchels then. We can forget it ever happened and move on.......hopefully.

The last two coaches have lost large parts of the changing room. I can't remember that happening at a club managed by Sam.

I actually think the players would enjoy working under him. The biggest problem would be fans not giving him a chance.

In an ideal world he certainly wouldn't be my first choice but this isn't an ideal world. I came out of Goodison on Sunday just as terrified of relegation as when I went in.

Very good point about Allardyce never losing a dressing room.

We have had 3 consecutive characters in who simply have not had the respect of the players. I include Unsworth in the 3 after the mirallas Schneiderlin debacle.

Reading up about Allardyce it seems that wherever he's gone the players have really liked and respected him.
