But yeah, Moyes got filletted back in the day for playing a weakened side in the Derby

I think Martinez can afford to drop 1 or 2 players, but on the whole I think he has to put a strong side out there. If we could somehow contrive to finally beat them, it would do wonders for morale in the Semi Final

All my life when teams were layed out, the right back was always placed first in the list before the centre backs. On here it seems the left back is always named first
example..
Robles
Baines, Stones, Jags, Coleman
From the birds-eye view in which these layouts were meant to represent, Baines would be right back. Wrong.

When did the rules change and why did nobody tell me?

Protect the top men against the RS crockers. They will be on a sabotage mission.

Resting players fpr the derby killed Moyes after we fannied up the following game. PLayers should be able to play 2 games in a week. Rest them round these games if necessary.
Exactly. I cannot believe that so many people are saying to rest players when Moyes got absolutely slaughtered for doing this back in the day.

The Derby, the day this guy becomes a hero ...

"Right lads, we're going deep into enemy territory - right to their HQ in fact....But, you'll have no armoured, no artillery, no air cover - and no ammo."

"You'll have osman & kone though...eh, lads?"

'SAKE :(

Pffffft Bayern would have won 2-0 if they hadn't rested so many players mid week, took them ages to warm themselves up

Least that's the story i am sticking too

Point stands though, everyone is thinking we rest players because the semi is way more important than the Derby - but resting doesn't gaurantee anything, different players and teams react differently to being rested or needing to be rested, we rest players lose the Derby big then lose the cup i can guarantee that most saying we should rest players will absolutely crucify Martinez afterwards - which is a joke but will happen.

Plus your gonna rest players like Lukaku and Barkley, one whom this game means a hell of a lot too with him being a blue and the other whose going for the league top scorer, dunno exatly if thats the best motivation for them both pre semi final to get them annoyed at being dropped.

Rest some of the older players like Barry fair enough, but calling for the likes of Naisse, Osman, Pienaar and Gibson to start for us is pure daft
Can also work the other way, we play our strongest team in both and the semi goes to extra time. And we are out on our feet.

We have 3 tough games in a week, with the last one the most important. Our biggest game since 95 imo. As in 2009 after beating Utd, we still has to overcome a great Chelsea team. And again in 2012.

Also look at how many times we get done over in Derbys by the ref. The game with the most red cards in prem history, and most of the time we are the ones on the receiving end.

The semi final is the biggest game of the remainder of this season, the derby is the second biggest. It is a real disappointment that it has been rearranged for semi final week, particularly as the first match was put off for a cup game.
With our new money coming in we will beat Liverpool on a regular basis from next season on, let this one slide and rest players for cup game. Having said "let this one slide" I would still expect a very good performance from whoever represents Everton.

people are acting like this has to be one or the other, as in we either play the kids or we play the exact same XI as we play at wembley. Rest players that can be replaced with a similar level of quality, for example if Besic, Deulofeu, Stones and Oviedo all start is that really much of a weaker team? I'd make 3-5 changes like that, replace players with quality, just not with kone or osman.

Think the biggest cause of dispute is over resting Barkley, Lukaku and McCarthy for the Derby or not to do so mate, at least that's my thought

Aye it's why i think we should rotate some players, but honestly don't think we can rest Lukaku, the drop off to the backups is too massive unlike most other areas on the pitch

rest Barry, Jagielka, Lennon and Baines - all 4 of those have quality backups who could be argued are no drop in quality, even Barkley if Mirallas hadn't given me zero confidence he won't get red carded within ten minutes of a Derby, but think we need to have McCarthy and Lukaku in the Derby team - prefer to see some players rested for the Southampton home game the weekend prior as well, rotate who we rest over those two games and that would help more than resting 6-7 for the Derby which will cause a car wreck result

I couldn't give a monkeys about the derby.

Team for me would be - Howard, Browning, Galloway, Jags, Oviedo, Deulofeu, Gibson, Besic, Mirallas, Osman, Niasse

We are favourites to win the FA Cup and secure history for our club. Imagine the feeling seeing Jags go up those steps to lift that trophy and compare that to winning a meaningless mid table derby.

If he plays our big hitters in this and one or more get injured/sent off I couldn't forgive him.

Honestly I would.

I hate it and it's ridiculous that they've rescheduled it for then. If the league season was going well I'd risk it. But we can't afford an injury to Rom; the cup is the only thing we have left and we need him.

Knowing them and knowing our luck, I'm 90% sure we'd get a major injury if we fielded our best team in the derby.

Browning is injured.

browning is out injured for the season, and found amusing that after all the hyperbole about seeing Jags lift the trophy and not forgiving martinez should he risk any of the team in the derby - that the one starting 11 player you included in the derby lineup was Jagielka - not like he's second oldest player in the normal best 11 or injury prone more than anyb of the others like lol

thing is mate, i agree and yet disagree at the same time if that makes any sense at all.

Got to factor in momentum of players, get a hammerign in the derby and the entire teams morale with drop - also dropping a striker whose going neck and neck for the top scorer award is not gonna do him any favours either, a lot will depend on the 4 games prior to the derby ofc, but say we go on a really good run of results up till then, it could harm us more suddenly dropping half the squad or more for some percieved advantage it will give us in the cup game

remember that Sudnerland game and how flat we looked when we rested most the squad for the derby, also remember the replay when the game 3 days before it we played our first team and in the replay we looked terrific so think a lot of the theory behind resting players is flawed really
