Possible Goodison redevelopment.

Here's a thought.
One that might get me shot out of a canon.
Would there be any sense in Everton FC Womens and Liverpool FC Womens merging and playing at Goodison.
Team could wear purple and call themselves Merseyside FC or Stanley Park FC or something.
Seems to me that there is/will be a market to support one Womens PL team and there's a stadium now that could be used.
I know lots of fans of Everton and Liverpool womens teams would baulk at the idea but it could be a good way to get a competitive well supported womens team playing in an iconic ground.
Probably a non starter but thought I'd see the reaction.
Whatever your day job is, don't give it up.

figured that's the response I'd get.
But why is it such a bad idea.
Havent lived in Liverpool since I was a kid and dont think there were any womens teams. Def not pro ones.
Are the women's teams that engrained in the city?

Last year Everton Womens average attendance was about 2k
Liverpools was 4.5k
Arsenals was 35k

I'm not sure Liverpool has the market for 2 compeditive womens PL teams.

Goodison doesn’t earn us £40m per year with the men’s team based there.

Quite pleased if the woman’s team is based there, even if not in its current state, ie losing the upper tiers etc (if not prohibitively expensive). Can’t see the woman’s team getting crowds north of 20k even on the biggest of occasions, the average is probably more like 2-3k I’d guess (happy to be corrected) but would hope that would go up playing at GP.

Like wise the statues staying in situ, Goodison and the surrounding area of Everton are a core base for our fans, abandoning it (to them) and removing all trace of the football team would be sacrilege.

New statues can be made, even exact copies if that’s ultimately what the consensus is.

Crowds for the women’s game are only going to go up. Teams will be faced with either investing massively into building a new stadium for the women’s team, or letting them play in their main stadium. We’d have the advantage of not having to do either as we’ve got a stadium there ready to go. Having matches at Goodison of any kind is beneficial to the area for the money it will bring in to neighbouring businesses.

I think the US owners in particular see a lot of value in the women’s game, it’s a market with much more immediate growth than the men’s one and the team’s that can get a competitive advantage now will be the first movers. Goodison might be able to help us do that.

They wouldn't need to merge. The RS women could rent it and use it every fortnight.

The women's game is forecasted to decrease and stagnate. Even women don't go and watch the Everton women.

Council tax alone for any refurbished scaled down Goodison women's football attendances would not make it pay ? I suppose if the youth & under 21s men's played there a possibility ?

All the more reason to make sure Everton are the womens team on Merseyside.

Which end do you wanna get in the cannon, head or feet?
