Pre-season: Dynamo Dresden away!

Didn't watch, sounds a bit average. But strangely Koeman seems more chuffed with that game than the 3-1 win over MK Dons, so there must have been some positives in it?

Weird comp too, given we're playing again in six hours. Can't imagine that would help motivation for the team.

Anyway, it's pretty clear (yes, even though I didn't watch a second) we could use some fresh blood. Ideally before the Espanyol game, which hopefully will serve as a real momentum booster before the season. Big week ahead.

SIDEBAR: Do we have another XI pretty much to start this second game? Did we make any subs against Dresden?

Yeh believe it will be a total different 11 pal. Might have to play a different formation or players out of position though. Seemed to be a lot of central players on the bench last night.

Yeah the points scoring in this 'tournament' is a bit odd, but hey that's one of them.

Obviously I don't think heads need to fall off because of a 1-2 defeat in pre-season (where their 2nd half team was a different side?) but some things will take time to iron out from the previous managerial regime.

Remember how Martinez (in hindsight) benefitted from Moyes defensive set up in 2013/14? Well same thing here - his sideways passing will have to be beaten out of them by Koeman.

Heads need not fall off, but talented midfielders do need to be bought (while the youth matures).

I'm ready for the next game, we could still finish runners up!

Actually, with a point extra for every goal, an 8-0 victory could clinch the cup....!

Agree fully with your last paragraph mate. Would love a midfielder with a great vision and passing ability. Unlock defences. We have missed someone like that for a while now. Not many about but hopefully Walsh can find us one.

Agreed mate. The hangover of the Martinez era is not going to disappear in this short period of time he's had with the players. It will take time and new signings not affected by the old regime will also speed up the process.

Dresen was a good side and had most possession during the game. Everton had more chances to score, but Delboy blew them all.
Delboy scored a cracker from set pieces, but was often frustrating to watch. Had four 100% chances but blew them. Koeman must put him on extra finishing exercise.
Mirallas was his usual, some nice touches and the he looses the ball.
Davis was far more prominent than Besic. Good interceptions and also some good visions about his passing.
Lennon hasn't changed during the preseason; good to track back, but can't pass the ball in the other end.
Steckelberg should be ahead of Robles, no doubt about it.
Furi had a decent game, but sometimes he got caught before he released the ball.
Coleman didn't communicate with the goalie when Dresen scored, but had some good runs down the side.
Baines was steady, but maybe he has lost a yard or two?
Barkely, same old story. Can't decide when to pass.
Stones had a decent game.
Gibson played the whole game (!), was lying deep maybe he was tired . Suprised that he is not injured!

Atmosphere for the dresden game was nothing short of brilliant by the way, better than any away game I've been too. Everybody not arsed about the score, performance, enjoying the day, weather, drinking in the stand.

Can't believe people were saying "They don't deserve the fans" Looked like everyone had a belter time there like. Saw a fella carrying a full crate of ale into the stand during half time today on the Everton TV Stream, had to laugh.

What do you mean dont deserve the fans? Asin the club don't?... Perhaps.

On friday they had trays for pints, like the kind you get in Maccies, they were all gone by the time todays game arrived, so they started handing out the bread crates they had spare.

Fans were top class on Friday, today, very hungover I'd imagine.

Aye, they said they didn't deserve the fans travelling for a pre-season tournament because of their performance.

I feel for todays team a bit really, was a second string mostly and everytime I went down to the kiosk, the heat was unbearable...

Greg O'Keefe was saying 'It's only 20 degrees, why a water break?".... Everybody was sweating in their seats and having to take water breaks on the way to the loo. Couldn't have been great playin in that heat, especially against a team who are more used to it...

Pretty sure i got burnt on my neck horrifically just by waiting 5 minutes in an efficient german queue.

Seems as though there are more chants going now too, 'Spirit of hte Blues' sounds particulary great... Expecially with the camp 'oOooh' that gave the dresden fans a laugh every time
