Everton boss Ronald Koeman says that he is pleased that his team were given a tough test against Dynamo Dresden in pre-season this evening.

The Dutchman says that he doesn’t like friendly games to be “too friendly” and was pleased that his side were made to work hard against a side who start their season next weekend.

“I think it was a good game,” said the manager.

“The intensity was high which is what you need in pre-season and it was a good test.

“OK, the result is not what you like to see but we had some good opportunities to score in the second half.

“Overall I’m happy with the intensity as that’s what you like to see in pre-season.

“For most of the players it was good to have 90 minutes because we need that.

“After tomorrow we only have two friendlies so it’s good to give everyone the chance.

“I don’t like friendlies to be too friendly. They start their league next week which means they’re physically stronger than us so we had to work hard.

“We have some good players who can score from free kicks.

“You can win games with set-plays, it’s good to see.”

OH?

Bloody germans, ridiculous way to escort out. Dad almost collapsed having to walk back to the city centre from the ground. No real help from them either apart from" its X distance that way, knowing full well it was further.

Apart from the day ruiner, decent match to watch, we look dangerous without having a good finisher on the pitch. Great goal by Deulofeu, even better one by a much fitter Dresden. Needs to learn to be better in the box if he's going to be striker, causes so many problems but no end product after doing the hard work.

Fitness coach said they had a fresh team second half, so assumd they made a few changes I didnt notice while having to do a beer run.

Hopefully tonight's result is a wake up call that there is still a long way to go for us to get where we want to be.

Playing friendlies against poor sides masks the truth. I hope next year we test ourselves more against top sides rather than the weak teams we have played so far

Jesus. Hate that. Hope your dad is feeling better.

Anyone remember that game against Real Betis in Martinez's first pre-season where we couldn't string two passes together and somehow won 2-1? Their keeper threw the ball in the net for the second? LOL frightening times.

We have to remember Dresden start their season next week so are ahead of us in the fitness stakes and it's not gracious to beat your hosts. Wait till we play Real Betis, we will Bang them everywhere!

Just been waiting for us to lose a pre-season game before I decided to log back in. Glad it's finally happened, are we getting relegated next season, lads?
