Question is pretty easily answered. Look at the spending budget. There is your answer.

Depends how much the manager is getting paid too. And we do pay decent wages to the players too.

Not a lot of clubs have big spending budgets. I would say there is more managers out there than there are clubs with money to spend. Another plus point with us is the manager according to Moyes is allowed to get on with it and make all the decisions.

Obviously it would be nice for us to have more to spend though. But any manager has to cut his cloth accordingly.

The low spend is as much Moyes' choice as it is thrust upon him, though.

There are loads of managers, in South America, in Holland, in Spain and Portugal who understand that their club is funded by players being sold. So they sell players often and buy in new players often. Play the kids a lot, sell to a big club, etc, etc.

Moyes has quite consistently turned down big money for his players (Saha for example). He'd rather hold together last year's squad then try to replenish. And he doesn't trust young players at all.

A manager willing to sell will be able to bring his own players.

This is worth emphasising. We pay very good wages. Moyes is one of the best paid managers in the world and our wage bill is I think the 7th or 8th biggest in the premier league. If players and mangers will go to China and UAE for the wages, why won't they come here for the same reason.

The fact that we offer competitive wages for players means the manager can attract players in if they sell to buy.

And our budget is vast compared to a lot of non english teams.

Those clubs in Holland, Portugal and South America are facing like-minded clubs week in and week out. The top clubs sell in those leagues. You can't say that about England. I don't think Spain really supports your argument given the two big spenders that are always well above all other clubs.

These are all Moyes' players. Of course he doesn't want to sell them. And given recent history, he doesn't always get the money back to buy, so why sell?

A lot of them would have killed for a budget that high while winning leagues in Argentina and Sweden and the like.

Sure they would, because that type of budget in Argentina and Sweden will get you quite a bit. They're inferior leagues.

Because, in the cases of Saha, Arteta and Yakubu, we ended up selling anyway only after a year of paying their wages and for less money.

Great managers know when to sell a player. Know when they've peaked.

Yes, there was that one year where they finished a notch below the top two that completely blows my argument out of the water. Where is Villareal now?

I wish we had an academy like Ajax then i wouldn't mind selling(total lie but hey) because they keep churning out awesome footballers.

And in 2004, Valencia won the league and Real finished 4th. And in 2003 Barca finished 6th. And in 2002 Valencia won it and Deportivo were the runners up. In 2001 Barca finished 4th and in 2000 Real finished 5th and Deportivo won the league. Etc, etc, etc.

Where is Villareal now? Where was Deportivo last season?
