Rather a strange question about a vaccine , yes I’ve heard of the oxford trials of a vaccine but I’ll bow to your far superior medical knowledge about it being ready in September :D my reading of it is at least six months and that’s if enough data is available with the declining transmission levels not helping the search for one . I suppose if your career in medicine fails you can always join the circus

Do us a favour, can you tell me what the hell you are going on about? I said, if you can actually read, that the said Vaccine was SUPPOSEDLY going to be ready in September, exact words. So where does mean that I have "far superior medical knowledge ", your daft quote. Or where does that mean I have a "career in medicine".
Or simply is the word "supposedly" too long for you to understand. Oh an btw, when someone has helped you read all that....Sod off back to rawk.lol

“Why not wait until the vaccine is due, end of September they say.. Null and Void until next season.”

That was the one I queried no supposedly there if you want to read back , Only one thing is dictating footballs return it’s money , so all the calls for null and void are pointless

Just catching up on this thread from last week.

Poor old Gwladys went from looking like they at least had an argument, whether you agreed with it or not, to someone flailing about, completely out of there depth.

I was a bit uncomfortable reading it if I’m honest.

He just seemed to go a bit mad. I've never seen someone just start with nonsense, and then just double down with more nonsense. I mean as people know on here, I am more than happy to get into a long winded, laborious back and forth but even I was bored very early on. I'm still stunned and some of the stuff he's come out with. Who knows whats prompted it.

Footballs going ahead though, it looks as if I was wrong. Unless a major spanner gets thrown in. I suspect when we look back at this, we will do so with a sense of real shame, in the same way we now do at allowing Cheltenham to be played. I have little doubt about that. But I suppose money conquers all.

You actually did query that one with supposedly in pal I've read back and to answer your question, no I'm not an expert in Vaccines, though I have worked for the last 19 years in a factory producing the Flu vaccine. They said the Oxford guys, that it could be ready as early as September. Not me them, unlikely maybe, but I never said that, now leave it at that I have no wish to continue a pointless discussion. I feel resuming this season is farcial and quite possibly dangerous, but who am I to argue, a certain team and its supporters need their tin pot and as you say there is the financial side of it as well.

If there was any doubt about the restart being motivated by money...

Man marking in the penalty area = safe
Standing in the wall = safe

Surrounding the ref = Unsafe
Celebrating in a group = Unsafe.

It's laughable.

Its pretty much just a pre season mess about. You can’t change the rules in a league 3/4 of the way through and expect it to maintain any validity.

The Covid Cup 2020

I actually did some research with the Oxford vaccine group in 2016. We looked at whether it was safe to give the intranasal flu vaccine to egg allergic children (it was called the SNIFFLE 2 trial if you really want to send yourself to sleep with the published results).

Anyway, if anyone is going to come up with a vaccine by September it will be them; they are the absolute elite when it comes to vaccines. However, even if they come up with a functional vaccine by September it will take many months to get it rolled out.

Ps. The study showed it is very safe to give the intranasal flu vaccine to egg allergic children. Vaccinate your children everyone!

Pps. The next trial I was going to do with them involved nebulising llama antibodies into babies with bronchiolitis. Think about that, if these lads can get you a bunch of llama antibodies at short notice, they can probably knock up a vaccine in no time. (I'd moved back up north by the time they were doing the trial)
