Cant see it happening- the plans are essentially to make the CL a closed shop - none of the other clubs are gonna just sit back and allow them to take it.

It will also have a hit on the PL who will know it stops the competitiveness of the league.

It will come down to either the 6 clubs staying or going - let them go.

They dont want to go they just want a bigger % of the TV deal like Real/Barca have in La Liga - thats always been what its about.

And I think they want to be in the CL every year. Or at least have a real chance at it meaning 6 spots for the top 4 leagues.

yup, definitely, but I fear if people are spoon fed this super league, they'll just eat it up. Maybe not so much in Europe, but everywhere else. It'll likely attract the top players.
I spent a life time trying to advocate for my local club in Ireland, working to try and get attendances up but people just wanted to sit on their arses and watch man u and liverpool. This is that but on another level.

Again I'm not wholly convinced. A lot of the areas that might are not big money areas. North America sems to like the EPL and not the CL. I mean who knows?

But it’s not going to happen so let’s forget about it and argue about the topic at hand.

They are talking about 5 clubs joining this new league. So Everton, Villa, Liverpool, Leicester & Arsenal?

Face it Man Utd, the league is more competitive than it was 5-10 years ago. Their CL cash cow is in doubt, that's football. Sure, they have a global reach but I'm sure the Man Utd plastics living in the UK and Worldwide can start supporting Man City.

They'll drop Spurs or City if they have to, but I think the 5 teams is a desperate play by other European sides to keep down the English influence.

Yea, north america loves the PL but only ourselves and the "big six". They are fanatical about real and barca tho.
If you have a league with Real, Barca, Man u, Liverpool, Bayern and Juventus, that's what they'll watch. Certaintly ahead of Everton V Newcastle.

The Spanish speaking section of the States is all about Real Madrid and Barca. Juve and Bayern get some play but I'd say behind all of the "big 6" save for maybe City and/or Spurs. The truth is there aren't 18 European teams this side of the Atlantic goes crazy for the same as there aren't 20 English sides.

I think that is probably the goal of the owners of these clubs.

American franchises would lose anti-trust suits if a legitimate organization tried to file them.

None of this is in the least surprising. I expect they are working on a parallel 'Americas' premier league with the best of the MLS along with a few of the marquee Brazilian, Mexican and Argentian sides. And then a world cup style event between them all. Nauseating really.
There is similar antics bubbling up in club and six nations rugby with a private equity firm recently buying into the ownership of the companies that run both.

Can I see a European Super League realizing to maintain competitive balance they'll need to implement something like a salary cap or draft? Honestly yeah, it doesn't seem impossible to me.
