Proposed changes to the Premier league

There would be a hit to revenues. The PL would have to think "creatively". However the PL is a strong product so there is no reason why it would collapse.
Absolutely, if a UK premier league fixture of say Everton v Celtic came up against Ajax v lfc I would argue the later would receive a much lower TV and attendance audience, the lack of away fans and atmosphere alone would ensure this. As I stated in a previous post, once they leave, they shouldn’t be allowed back for at least 50 years...

Great clubs whose self image is built on domestic domination will soon shed their fickle fans when regular hidings are being dealt out.

This.

These clubs have the fanbase because of past/present domestic glories and there are only so many trophies to be won each year.

How many new worldwide fans will some of these clubs attract when its say Madrid, PSG & Bayern winning everything year in and year out. I cannot see any of the other teams gaining new overseas customers if that's a regular thing.

Eventually the teams constantly in the lower reaches of any Euro league will have their support base dwindle, will be discarded and have to try and salvage what is left of their future.

They will be minted for a good few years no doubt about it, but if they don't stay neat the top from the outset then they will be the Bournemouths & /Fulhams* of the new setup

And the being minted for a few years ? - that'll just line the pockets of the owners.

Some fans should be very concerned what the future might hold, especially if they are used to their club winning trophies on a regular basis but are now playing the best of the best week in week out and not winning a game let alone a trophy

*Nothing against those two clubs BTW

It should be relatively simple to stop this in its tracks. Richard Masters should come out and say “If you decide to play in the Euro league, you are not eligible to play in the Premier League.”

It’s a bit of a gamble but I can’t imagine Liverpool or Utd fans would be happy not playing in their domestic competition just because the directors wanted to get more money in the door.

I think the FA, PL and the clubs outside the top 6 need to make a strong stand here and tell them they can either put up with how things are or leave and never come back

So they want a European super league where no one gets relegated , yet still be allowed to compete in the Prem.
So no other team can get into into europe via the top 4 no matter even if they win the Prem.
Looks like we dont figure in their plans.

Sounds like a plan....Football Monopoly.

Howabout why wait , kick them out go find your league as you wont be coming back.

Bring in Celtic & Rangers to go with the massive clubs left Everton , Spurs, Aston Villa , Leeds , Wolverhampton & Newcastle all huge in their fanbases , West Ham plus your Leicesters & Southamptons.
Thats the basis of a very strong league.

Just on a practical level - how boring would this league be with No relegation. you could be out of contention after about 5 games and quite literally have absolutely nothing to play for

Thats what they want though. Accountants care not one jot about how boring it will be. They want guarentees of ££££££ and will bribe all of fifa for it.

It's an American system isn't it. No surprise that both clubs are American owned.
Not interested in the game, only making money.

Can I see a European Super League realizing to maintain competitive balance they'll need to implement something like a salary cap or draft? Honestly yeah, it doesn't seem impossible to me.

Stop trying to apply your, as in collectively, ideas of your sport on our football please. We go by your rules when we pitch up in Merica.

I'm not saying I want this to happen or that the American way of running professional sports is superior or anything like that. I'm just telling you what my read of what the Glazers, Fenway, etc. want and are trying to do. And one of the things they will want is a league where they still have a chance to win which will require some kind of balancing procedure. That is way down the road though after they accomplish their initial goal of turning clubs to franchises in all but name

They under estimate the collective will of English football supporters. And the roots that English football clubs have in their communities.
