Proposed changes to the Premier league

Just on a practical level - how boring would this league be with No relegation. you could be out of contention after about 5 games and quite literally have absolutely nothing to play for

In the NFL losing teams are looking forward to the next NFL draft to re-stock up on talent. The more you lose the higher your draft pick. This won't work in European Football due to the structure of lower clubs being stepping stones for developing new talent. I don't think it'll happen but if it does it'll destroy football for may local supporters.

They under estimate the collective will of English football supporters. And the roots that English football clubs have in their communities.
They are after the media induced arm chair TV fans. I agree that the traditional regional or town fans will not find the pseudo franchise system very interesting.

Not for Utd/Chelsea due to neither competing anymore.

City/Vermin is the game now.
I remember that every game before the Big 4 became the Big 6 that teams played each other everyone went crazy. Now they try to, but I don't think it has the same effect because it happens literally every week just about.

Think everybody is a bit pissed off with Sky as well.

Currently I struggle to get excited for Everton games.

There will have been at least one game between "big 6" teams every weekend between the second of the season and December 5th. You can't really claim the game is massive when it happens weekly. At a minimum a super league would require a marketing rethink.

That would give the venture some legitimacy..."what could we do? They threw us out".

They need to resign knowing if it's a failure and they want back in they start from the bottom. Since the CL went behind a paywall I've stopped watching it despite being able to see the games. It's just become tedious with the same old clubs year in year out. Create something even more locked down and I wouldn't even start watching it.

I'm a great believer in the pyramid system with everyone getting a chance of glory. Since the PL this has gotten worse but we've seen it is possible. Now there are a set of clubs trying to break into the 6 places they've decided to shut up shop.

Fans of these clubs that suggest this should fightback. At the end of the day these owners don't give a damn about them and success, just larger reoccurring payments that lead to bigger shareholder payouts and increase the value of the club when it comes to selling up.

Very true mate.

If that John Henry at Liverpool could make billions more from relocating Anfield to a new home in New York he would do it in a heartbeat and the way football is going it’s not even a far fetched possibility.

The locals of these clubs are being sent packing further and further away from their clubs and for all the woods and the trees they just don’t see it.

This whole super league is only really appealing to the day trippers and selfish greedy billionaires who just want to make more money at the expense of anything.

You might know your football, US style, but you have not got a clue about Footie.
I think anyone suggesting they know what is going to be left for football if/when these clubs try to restructure the whole thing is kidding themselves. I'm just wildly speculating.

It is already wearing off in the PL. Are people actually excited for United and Chelsea to play this weekend the same as they would have been in 2010 or even 2015?

That’s true but in the CL you get the excitement of two huge clubs who haven’t faced each other for years putting on a great game. Then you get the unexpected team who makes it all the way to the semis or finals.

Our league can get repetitive but where would you get stories like newly promoted Leicester winning the title in two years, clubs like Wolves and Burnley getting into Europe. The relegation battles and the Championship promotion race it all adds to the excitement and uniqueness of a proper domestic football league. A closed league with the same 20 teams would become the most boring and stagnanted thing ever. The excitement of those huge clubs playing each other would just fade.

So this comes after the big 6 proposals? Really getting pissed of with football!

They didn't get what they wanted

And then they wanted our players thrown in a Guantanamo Bay jail after the Derby and they didn't get that either.

So they are throwing a tantrum and want to leave lol. WEAK PATHETIC CHILDISH SPOILED RED SCUM [Poor language removed]

The whole handling of how it works would have to change. I think there is still something to work with but it is just a fundamentally different type of entertainment from what football currently is.
