Proposed changes to the Premier league

Its not just England. I will pretty much guarantee that the supporters of the European giants, (PSG dont count), will have no truck with this.
I agree with you. I think German supporters will hate it. Italian ultras aside from maybe Juve will hate it. But again if everyone isn't stepping up collectively the rich people will see the money and still go for it.

I'm not saying I want this to happen or that the American way of running professional sports is superior or anything like that. I'm just telling you what my read of what the Glazers, Fenway, etc. want and are trying to do. And one of the things they will want is a league where they still have a chance to win which will require some kind of balancing procedure. That is way down the road though after they accomplish their initial goal of turning clubs to franchises in all but name
yup, if FSG, the Glaziers and Kroenke are involved, they'll want a league with no relegation and a salary cap/draft system to keep a couple of clubs from dominating that league. Basically this super league is a step towards franchise football.
And from a marketing and finance point, it'll work.
Much as I'd love to see Liverpool feck off to a different league, I can't shake the feeling that it would be very bad news for Everton.

I think the best case scenario is that the Super League is sort of the NFL and the rest of the domestic leagues sort of become a college football type scenario. And from a fan's perspective there are a lot of positives to the way college football works so I don't think that is a bad thing necessarily. Also if that happened you could bring back more of a traditional format for the European competitions as they won't be designed for money making anymore. It could be good for a lot of people.

We need to have our own plan with the remaining clubs and europe

I don’t know if the other clubs can do much about it but surely they’re not just gonna sit there and let these two Tory infested self serving greedy clubs think they’ve got the whole league by the short and curlies? It’s obvious neither one of them two clubs want to be in the Premier League anymore and are determined to try and break it up or enforce rules that only really apply to and benefit them, all clubs should get together and vote that they both be removed from the league or see some form of punishment handed out to them for bribery basically.

I think a draft works fine if you’ve got a self contained college structure underneath to pick from, world football has no real feeder ‘system’ it’s a labyrinth.

Salary caps would be in everyone’s interest but how do you do that when you have competing leagues in multiple jurisdictions? It’s not like America where it’s one major league in one country.

For transfer of players contracts you need an agreed system under one governing body, even assuming FIFA and EUFA were in favour, why would the rest of their members go for it, Turkey’s don’t vote for Christmas.

I just think these owners are throwing their weight around, if they are in fact serious then they just don’t get European culture or legal structure. It won’t fly.

Any participating clubs should be immediately expelled from the country's FA and their current national league.
Any participating players should be informed that their eligibility to play for teams outside this illegitimate league will lapse on expiry or alteration of their current contract, unless the expiry results in a transfer to a legitimate league team.
Any participating players should be told that they will be ineligible to play for their national teams at any level.
Joining a youth academy from a participating club will result in ineligibility to play for other teams for a specific period. Youth teams from those clubs will not be eligible to play league, cup or friendly fixtures against legitimate teams.

Added: And any agent who enables a transfer to or between participating clubs should be immediately banned from representing players in legitimate national FAs.

The likes of Arsenal and Man Utd will be the whipping boys in that league. Financially it would benefit them but if it’s a league of 20 what good is it finishing 20th and not getting relegated every season or having a chance of even getting close to finishing 1st.

Also think the novelty of the big clubs playing each other every week will wear off big time.

It is already wearing off in the PL. Are people actually excited for United and Chelsea to play this weekend the same as they would have been in 2010 or even 2015?

That would give the venture some legitimacy..."what could we do? They threw us out".

They need to resign knowing if it's a failure and they want back in they start from the bottom. Since the CL went behind a paywall I've stopped watching it despite being able to see the games. It's just become tedious with the same old clubs year in year out. Create something even more locked down and I wouldn't even start watching it.

I'm a great believer in the pyramid system with everyone getting a chance of glory. Since the PL this has gotten worse but we've seen it is possible. Now there are a set of clubs trying to break into the 6 places they've decided to shut up shop.

Fans of these clubs that suggest this should fightback. At the end of the day these owners don't give a damn about them and success, just larger reoccurring payments that lead to bigger shareholder payouts and increase the value of the club when it comes to selling up.

This pandemic is the ideal opportunity for the leading clubs to exploit their dominant position. The money men behind these companies (not clubs anymore) are only interested in the global digital platform rights. Your stadium and fan base are mere extras to the staged event. Very sad.

I've got some ideas
Let them ago

We form 2 extra competitions

Champion league only top 2 clubs from each league enter

The best idea is a new cup format for all clubs in Europe like an European F.A Cup.

So a knockout example could be Tranmere v Napoli knockout

What do you recken?
