I'm not in UK, I'm from India, I like football, but I like to see some good football, while watching CL I realized that most teams win on their day, or the stronger teams win. There was always a confidence when Rafael's team played in Europe no matter who the opposition was or what team Rafael played.

Real Madrid fluked it 3 in a row. Juventus were really unlucky not to beat them in one of them, and Bayern was unlucky to screw up with a back up GK in the other (when Neuer was injured). I'd say even Lpool got lucky against Barca, for that 4th goal.

With so much money it is all down to the players these days, and only a few managers are able to make the difference
Read that sentence back to yourself.

Like I said, weird.

I don’t know what the journalists could have done. Many pressed him on his remarks and the negativity from our fan base towards his appointment. Thought it was more telling about him not wishing to talk about James and the need to fight for the shirt. It’s a shame as I’d rather see James for half of the games in a 10 role, then Siguardisson all season in that role. The continuous spending needed to be curbed sometimes. I don’t think you’ll see a lot of incomings (unless we use the loan system well) until we can shift the likes of Delph, iwobi, Bernard, Tosun, Kenny etc all who aren’t good enough for the squad let alone the team.

As far as I’m concerned, by not really apologising or addressing the small club thing he’s shot himself in the foot

He either sets us up to be tight at the back to nick 1/3 points and have his own words thrown back at him for setting us up as a “small team”

Or he sets us up to be really attacking so no one can accuse him of it and we get skelped like we did under Martinez, making him look moronic and tactically destitute

Whereas if he’d just said “I was annoyed at the result and needed to keep Liverpool fans onside. It’s a perfectly valid tactic and I was wrong to make the comment” then it’s dealt with then and there

He’s made life harder for himself than he had to

It pains me to write this. Yes we have received substantial money in sales in recent years, from selling top players, but it’s been largely wasted.
Lukaku - Richarlison and Tosun
Stones -Mina and Keane
Barkley - Doucoure
Vlasic and Henry - Allan
They might not been similar positions but similar money was spent on their replacements. That doesn’t even include the likes of Siguardisson and Iwobi

I imagine restrictions will mean more like we cant just go out and spend £150 million at present which we all know.

I think if the USM naming rights deal starts hitting the accounts this financial year at some stage + hopefully the likes of Kean, Benard and Kenny sold for profits we'll likely spend around £70-100 million.

Its why the club realistically have gone for someone similiar to Ancelotti in style - can you imagine the money needed for someone like Potter or Fonesca to spend to bring in players to play attacking open football.

I mean he may not have said those exact words Mikey, but he did say he did it because he was 'fighting' for his team which he has done everywhere. Does that not insinuate similar?
