Ah would you have rather him given some guff about him not meaning it, only joking, Everton has always been in his heart???
Let's get down to brass tacks here. ..... Was he wrong?!
Or let's put it another way - did you enjoy watching Everton park the bus and celebrate a draw against Liverpool?
Because he's clarified the context.....why were we playing for draws? The subsequent record against that lot suggests that he was right to rib us ......
Fans with absolutely no sense of direction are holding this club back. The celebration following the Derby win was embarrassing - it highlighted just how low we had gone in previous years
Not nice to read this is it. ... But it's true
I'm not massively one for vengence, but he should tell the truth and say it was a really stupid, ill informed comment, braindead comment.
Even if we take him at his word, if a football club, with the fraction of the resources of another football club away from home, they are going to set up defensively and be pleased if they go away from home and get a result. Christ Benitez, with one of the most expensively assembled squads in the world at Liverpool, used to go away from home in big games and do exactly the same thing. It's good management. It's what he did almost every week from memory at Newcastle, home and away.
As for celebrated a draw, can you tell me the game we "celebrated" a draw? I don't remember a single time. Albeit I haven't been going for the last 10 years or so, but I don't remember every celebrating a draw. I can imagine being satisfied at getting a decent point away, but we never "celebrated". It's complete un utter revisionism that.
Benitez by not addressing it has left an absolute rod for his back, as if we set up defensively now, with a far more expensively assembled squad, people are rightly going to call him out on it.
As a final point, why was celebrating winning a match, and a derby match at that embarrassing? Did you see the way Liverpool celebrated the last win at Anfield. They celebrated akin to when Alex Ferguson won the 1st league title at Manchester United in 27 years. Some of the idiots got tattoos of it! Why on earth would celebrating a win in a far more low key manner be "embarrassing" exactly?
It's not nice to read, as most of it is complete nonsense.
