Homepage Article Rafael Benitez Appointed Everton Manager

It was merely an expression, calm down. If I recall in Toonland he had plans but Ashley was not on board and he did well up there on poor resources. Give him a chance like we should and most do with new managers.
He bought 28 players while at Newcastle but as many of them were crap Ashley felt he had to pull the plug on his spending.
Benitez is a past master of bringing the fans over too his side and blaming everyone else for his failings.
He will do exactly the same at Everton and start blaming Moshiri.

I love the way you know exactly how life pans out you won’t let anyone select any manager other than the ones you ‘allow’ then you say ‘that one means we’re relegated ‘ at least you’ve finally stopped forcing Eddie Howe down our throats as the only viable alternative like you did for a couple of weeks .

Its being realistic - who in our midfield could play open attacking football?

Doucoure - has pace but cant pass a ball

Allan - decent passer but not got the legs to get about the pitch.

Siggurdsson - no legs or energy

Gomes - see above

Davies - tries but an average player

Delph - waste of space

James is the only one who's good enough on the ball but we would need a lot of legs and pace around him which we dont have.

It would be a massive gamble to give the reigns to some inexperienced manager like Potter and expect him to get a grip of this squad of mentally suspect players, have them playing great football and winning games whilst not struggling under the Goodison pressure when we hit a rocky patch which has seen off every manager since Moyes except Alladyce who's as thick skinned and experienced as Benitez minus actual success.

So again though you basically say tell me a manager then you say this squad can’t play attacking football , now your go to is potter . Look there is a world of football managers you offer us one at a time , there is no point really in us going around in circles.

where I do agree is in this squad seeing off managers but where I’m concerned is if they try to do it again I don’t see anyway this fanbase , you and a couple aside , don’t simply blame Benitez . I’m not saying it’s right but it feels glaringly obvious which is why I think it’s crazy .

I agree mate but Benitez is thick skinned enough to handle that pressure and the owners obviously trust in the bloke.

Same way Allardyce would have come out of a rocky spell even with fans baying for his blood as he's thick skinned and experienced - whereas someone like Howe or Potter would crumble as the likes of Silva, Koeman and Martinez did before them.

...and Ancelotti

Because you have to be realistic mate. We cant blow money with FFP to sign a new squad who can play the type of football you want and the club cant afford dropping into the bottom 3 whilst BMD is being built which they did with this same squad of players under both Koeman + Silva.

We were always going to appoint a solid manager whos system mimics Ancelotti it was never going to be giving the keys to the Mercedes to some inexperienced bloke who's never managed in England trying to play expansive football with a team who struggle to string two passes together.
Skoda, keys to the Skoda.

Hope most of our fans are mature enough to see that the last 5 years have been down to crap players in the team and crap signings but hey let's blame Rafael once we lose our first game.
If we win it's because of Benitez, if we lose it's the players, is that what your saying? Ancelotti won his first 7 games last season with these players in league and cup for comparison.

I sense some of our brave lionhearts are getting a little antsy as regards rising expectations within the Everton fan base. I would be unsurprised to see our brave lionhearts ‘lay down tools’ as a result. The auguries toward a good start to the season are not propitious.

Every manager since Moyes has had a "transition" first season in most fans eyes and Benitez will get one with me based on current transfer business.

If we go out and sign some top players he'll have to have us fighting for top 7 but if it stays as it is then 10th+ is acceptable first season.
