That’s not what I’m saying.

I’m saying anything less than Europe is a failure, as that is, or should be our aim. Just as it’s been every season and every manager has failed in delivering since Koeman.

Ive just realised I quoted the wrong post anyway and it was actually @Death who mentioned Europe, but the point stands.

I’m not saying he’ll be getting sacked for finishing outside of Europe, but we can’t be judging it a success, the same way I’m not willing to say ancelotti was a success.
Don't you drag ME into this mess. I'm just an innocent bystander.

I agree in that finishing 8th-10th isn't success in my eyes but being honest its probably about where we are at present until the squad is rebuilt.

You'll have those with the knife out for the fella if we aint qualifying for Europe in his 1st season which is short sighted imo.

Finishing 8th or 10th and playing some decent football that allows us to expect future improvement would be acceptable.
Grinding out the season with Allardycian flavoured drudgeball to finish around 9th would be very dispiriting.

Ancelotti finished 10th & 12th and was still in a job mate.

Its not failure at this club currently - the days of the board sacking managers for not finishing top 7 is over.

I agree top 7 should be the aim but we have to be realistic in that we haven't played in Europe since Ronald Koeman was manager - the squad is full of bang average players and we need to rebuild which starts this summer.
absolutely right about the rebuild... get rid of our only worldie player and replace him with 2 free's and a 1.5M Leicester reject. We are not rebuilding we are asset stripping!

Additionally, we must dismantle before we rebuild...and we simply dont have the necessary new personnel in situ to replace the proposed cast-offs with eleven days to go before the first game. Senor Benitez will have his work cut out.

I think the problem is fans think there are only two ways of playing - the Potterball way or the Alladyce way.

We'll certainly be more defensive but if the right players come in and we have pace on the counter you can have an effective system that wins you games and not just playing for set pieces like Ancelotti was doing.

Leicester play great football now but thats been built on solid foundations going back to when Ranieri won them the title by playing what some call "hoofball" - defend defend defend then win the ball by Kante/Drinkwater and knock it down the channels for Vardy and Mahrez's pace to get in behind.

Fans have to be patient and realise players like Gomes, Siggurdsson, Davies, Iwobi, Delph are not going to be playing like Man City. Players like James for all his quality doesnt suit a team where he spends more of his time without the ball than with it hence why he'll be off.

DCL, Richarlison, Gray, Doucoure and hopefully 1-2 pacey additions with hopefully Digne and Dumfries attacking the flanks and you'll start to get excited when we are attacking on the break with 3-4 quick players bombing down on the oppositions goal rather than what we have been seeing for years - Gomes or Soggy getting the ball, looking around to find no one running ahead, then turning around to pass it back to Keane or Mina.

Its not the system so much its the personnel and their complete lack of any pace and energy.

I bet you would have expected to finish higher than that if Carlo was still in charge

Double standards innit.

A deliberate lowering of the bar for the Spanish snake.
