Which free transfer are you referring to? I can only assume this is the signing of Andy Lonergan? I stand by my position that signing a 37 year old no mark who has played less than 10 first team games in the past three years, despite being at lower league clubs during that time period, is pointless and deprives a young goalkeeper of an opportunity to be involved with the match day squads. No contortions or rabbit holes required. I assume you believe Lonergan will have a big part to play at the club?
haha, no I didn't realise you'd been dissing him too. I meant Andros. But Lonergan, I mean, who cares? But in your detestation of the manager these are the topics you're going to be hunting down, I just think it's a waste of time. For you, Better to knock it on the head til he's gone. You'll be much happier.

I didn't claim they were the same thing, I simply pointed out that you can dislike a manager and still support Everton despite the protestations of the Benitez kult.
I would say that if therre is a "kult" it's the minority who "dislike" the manager for reasons other than results/performances.
FWIW I'll make my mind up when this season is over.

I couldn't really care less about Townsend or Lonergan, they're nothing players, I care about what their signings say about us as a club. This is also why I care about employing a washed up koppite as a manager. Moshiri is just Ashleying us now, he splashed the cash and it got us nowhere, so now he wants to spend as little as possible to protect his investment until the stadium is built and he can sell us on to the next oligarch.

When has Everton ever made me anything other than fleetingly happy? They haven't made me genuinely happy since 1995. They made me miserable when we were broke, they made me miserable when we were rich, and they're making me miserable now that we are broke again. What are you going to do, though? I'm not going to bin her off now that we're owned by a tosser and managed by a goon. They'll be gone just like the last lot sooner or later.

So what your saying is if we get relegated (we wont but for arguments sake) its the players fault and Benitez should stay to get us back in the PL, but no blame will be laid at Benitez's door for the relegation?:hayee:
Burnley have outspent us by millions and are 19th in the spending league. We have gotten rid of players including our right back cover without a replacement. Now our right back is injured. Our players are a bunch of cowardly crabs that get progressively worse. Bolstered by 1.5 million war chest.

Whatever happens this season if Benitez can get these playing he's working miracles. Its a free hit. Top 12 would be great. Then hopefully he gets a good window and expels the players unneeded. See what he can do over 2 or 3 years. And then we will know.

But yeah whatever failure including relegation. I wouldn't blame him. Won't think we will. But won't be blaming him.

I like the cut of his jib so far ill tell you that.

A cult is something in which an individual is worshipped unconditionally and without question. Now, ask yourself, do I really fit into that definition? Benitez has done fine against limited opposition with an almost fully fit squad. We've got better opposition upcoming and injuries from the international break to contend with. The next month will tell us a lot about where we really are (and who the cultists really are).

A cult could also be something where an individual is hated unconditionally and without question.
Would you fit into that definition ?

I mean, it isn't, but crack on. A better example would be some sort of hate organisation like the KKK but if you start drawing parallels between people not liking a football manager and the systematic oppression of an entire race of people that would make you a right tosser, wouldn't it?

I'm not really seeing that though, apart from several regular posters who are DEFINITELY doing it deliberately to wind up fellow blues.
I'm talking about @ForeverBlue92 @Death etc who IMO are way more irritating than those who chose to prejudge Benitez because of his history.
