No you never - we let in 6 goals from set pieces last season (7 if you include a direct free-kick but I don’t) and we’ve already eclipsed that at just halfway through the season.

Yup. Pretty sure it was against Watford that record was smashed.

It's been pointed out many time, every stat compared to last season ridiculously down at this stage.

Apart from running.

Every other club in the world have DOF. City and Liverpool and Chelsea all have DOF works well for them

Well, I'm not aware of any of them using the title Director of Football.

Chelsea are an odd one, I'll give you that. The other two have two long term world class managers. Let's see how well their 'model' works when them two aren't around shall we?

….i recall being regularly told it was only the injuries holding us back, we have a very decent team when everybody is fit. There’ll always be one or two injuries and/or suspensions, the best managers cope.

I’m genuinely surprised at how poorly the team is being managed. We played a Palace team coming off the back of 3 defeats, yet the clear tactics was to allow them possession, consolidate and not concede; No press, instead forwards drop into their own half. No tempo.

Everton have won more points from a losing position than any other team in the PL. it’s a major stat as it shows we are poorly set-up and organised at the start of games. There is no getting away from that. We are more effective when we go behind & have to play more positively.

Only a very stubborn man would continue down a path that doesn’t work. This team/squad is better than most in the league, we are poorly coached.
Absolutely nailed it Eggs.

Let's get it right - the players are gobsh*tes by and large, but they are also very poorly coached. I've been saying it for ages.

He's making us play like a small team

Oh the irony

City definitely have one , the others call it technical or sporting director . I’m not sure the name makes a lot of difference to the role really . Pretty much everyone has someone doing it , I think the difference is they probably appoint someone and take on board what they say rather than paying them a huge Salary to make the tea.

The raw numbers does not show the gulf in performance between this and last season.

You claimed they did and they didn't.
Goals per game conceded 2020: 1.3
2021: 1.8
Big Chances per game conceded 2020: 1.9
2021: 2.2
Goals from Set plays per game 2020: 0.4
2021: 0.1
Avg Possession per game 2020: 46.4%
2021: 39.3%
Clean Sheets 2020: 31.6%
2021: 18.75%

An awful lot of sense here, but the bit in bold I can't agree with.

They have replacements lined up ready to go and keep the same model. Sporting director and director of football the same job just maned differently.
Our problem is that Moshiri has all the power and picks the manager and buys players on a whim. The next DOF needs to take full control

Begiristain Mujika is City's DoF
