I wouldn't agree with that being the case under Ancelotti myself. I don't think either of the last 2 managers were a good match for what we need and unless we look for a different type of manager who is a better fit for what we need then I don't think we'll ever progress past what we have been for the past few years.

It's a step by step process. Last season was a mode of playing that suited them, improvement on the previous seasons in terms of points, wins, goals etc. His next step was indentifying who to sell and who to bring in. That's gone now.

I'm sure if Carlo was still here, we'd have had bolstered and shuffled the pack. He was already looking for another CB and some pace to improve the quality of football.

Because it takes 2 seconds to find a fact.

My bad it was actually Martin Broughton who said Rafael walked.

"Rafael basically pulled out of the whole thing and said ‘I’m going to leave this to my lawyers to negotiate.’

“He didn’t say he was leaving, and I never told him he was leaving. It was ‘I’ll leave this to my lawyer’ and his lawyer’s stance was ‘what are the terms for Rafael going’

RS mate doesn't agree with you.

Not the smartest post. Ferguson consistently won things, and Mourinho didn’t fall out with his players nearly as much as he does now when he was successful. In addition to that, both were successful a while ago now, and that old style of management clearly doesn’t work with modern players.

To be fair, some players deserve a football boot thrown at them.

If you are an Everton fan, why do you know so much about benitez and his past?
And only appeared on the board when Benitez was touted for the job a few years ago, then reappeared this summer when he was linked again, and has since stayed.

Oh and only ever talks about Benitez.

On the positive side, once the dinosaur gets sacked, we'll see the back of this weirdo too.

All valid points tbf
I am suprised at Viera's impact too, but it's there.
I'm not saying Lampard is perfect but that's what you get when someone is learning their trade rather than thinking they know everything already, that's the key difference and I'd take that over RB

Sure.

It's why I'm in the Big Dunc camp. More difficult without a DoF for him but personally feel he's best suit to sort the side out. It's like Gary Neville said about managers...the best ones imprint their personality to it. I'd want Dunc flowing through everton at this moment.

Lol typical Benitez laying the blame onto someone else. Does the man ever take responsibility for anything?

BTW from "googling" wiki

Benítez left the club "by mutual consent" on 3 June 2010[50] with a reported £6 million pay-off;[51] the media speculated that this was because the team had finished seventh in the Premier League, missing out on the Champions League, and suffered poor results, including the defeat by Wigan Athletic.

Given that Moshiri now appears to be missing in action, Barrett-Baxendale considering her future options and Brands out the door, you do wonder who on earth at the club actually has the authority/will to make this change and how on earth we will come to an agreement on who Benitez's successor should be.

Benitez has been dealt a miserable hand this season, not even his biggest detractors can deny this but our form has sunk to such despair that not even his biggest acolytes can make a case that he should be retained.

Benitez has reached the end, he might as well see out another tonking at Chelsea before being forgotten about shortly after.

As doubtful as I am about his credentials, I think there is a very strong argument that Dunc should be given the job on interim basis until the end of the season. I would be very concerned for any new manager coming in with this squad and lack of funds that they would be able to make a decent fist of this job, not to mention that I think any manager with above average intelligence would run a mile if they were offered this poisoned chalice. I think with Dunc and the good will he gained from his previous stint as interim manager, he would be able to unify the fanbase and playing squad to guide us away from danger just through sheer effort.

We can then properly take stock of our situation in the summer. Obviously appointing a interim manager comes with certain pitfalls that United discovered whereby a bit of success almost compels the top brass to give the bloke the job permanently but we need to appoint a proper footballing CEO in the meantime and hopefully come the summer they can look at the situation with a calm and experienced head and make the right decision on what's best for the club.

What's people's opinion on the difference between a manager and a coach? Talking to a lad earlier and he said Benitez is neither. Are Klopp and Guardiola managers with coaches who compliment them or are they mainly good man managers who are decent at coaching too? Modern footy terms confuse me. If you wore a suit or flasher mac on the touchline in the old days you were a manager and the fella next to you in the trackie was the coach / spongeman is my memory ?
Klopp and Guardiola are both I'd say

If he's up for it, I'd love him to have until the end of the season to make his case. We could do with his passion
