His media mates are circling the wagons now:

What a little gobshite he is

His PR man has been quiet, good to see him popping back out of his hole

Shows he`s feeling the pressure too, which is a good sign.

I was about to say the same as @COYBL25

Balague appears from nowhere to attempt to defend his mate (who he claims isnt actually his mate) by stating its the players fault.

Thats despite our good moments in games being when were on the front foot...yet the manager insisting on his playing on the defensive.

We could play Colwyn bay and he'd probably set up to counter with long ball.

Sigurdsson 45 mil
Tosun 27.5 mil
Keane 25 mil
Klaassen 24 mil
Walcott 20 mil

He can't do any worse than that can he.
Almiron
Aquilairi
Rondon x2
Babel
Muto

Mate... you make out like Benitez has an eye for signings.... Crouch for 9.5m back in the day is like a 30m signing these days... his approach to signings to scattergun and hope one sticks...

then fall out with them.

I probably wouldn't use our old signings and Benitez transfer dealings as something to one up with, it definitely won't work.

There's a fresh batch of news here about Omicron spread. UK seems to be a day or two ahead of US in this regard. I'm afraid that the season is going to be suspended. Well, I'm afraid of a lot more than that but as pertains to this conversation that's what's relevant.

If the season is put on hiatus for any length of time, maybe* that's a time where FM can find a graceful exit to the mess he's created, part ways with RB during the break and have time to line someone up in the interim. If we had a winter break like the Bundesliga that would be an ideal time, but unfortunately instead we double up on the fixtures so there can be a fresh hell every three days instead of seven. Alas we don't.

I pray against all hope that it doesn't get that bad, but in the increasingly likely event that the game is put on hold for a time, a few weeks of inactivity would save the daily drumbeat of increasingly bad news that forces even rasher decisions to fix the rash decisions that went bad. Because who we bring in, and whether it's a DoF model or manager only, that's a decision that no one trusts FM to make right now and as bad as it's been it could get worse. It can always get worse.

*will not happen

If we finish 9th but have less points than last season, some people on here will call it a failure.
I would snap your hand off for a 9th place finish

But I fear closer to 19th mate

Something is going to hit the fan real soon

We are a mess of a football club right now

Benitez's future at Goodison is in serious doubt, you honestly believe he can turn this around?

Do you honestly expect a reasoned answer ?

THERE IS NO WAY OUT ONCE YOU'RE IN hahaha
It's like a train wreck in slow motion. I feel like I'm watching it from the outside but that's because my soul has left my body which is being emulsified by the twisted steel slowly lurching toward its catastrophic end. I want to look away from the horror of it all, but can't. Thanks Benitez.

So just a reminder.

This time last season after 16 games we were;

4th | 9 wins | 2 draws | 5 loses | 26 goals for | 20 goals against

This season after 16 games we are;

14th | 5 wins | 3 draws | 8 loses | 20 goals for | 28 goals against

"wah wah but we've had injuries"

Guess what for the first 16 games of last season these 'starting' players all missed games.

Pickford - 2 games bench
Godfrey - 1 game injured, 1 game bench
Holgate - 7 games injured, 2 games bench
Mina - 2 games bench
DIgne - 1 suspension, 7 games injured
Coleman - 7 games injured
Allan - 4 games injured
Richarlison - 3 games suspension, 1 game injured

You remember that period when Ancelotti ended up playing Godfrey and Holgate as full backs or we went to a back three. He adapted, they worked on shape and positioning and the team still got results despite missing key players. They were not shipping goals nearly every time the opposition attacking or conceded from every 5th set piece against them.

So all you mini Balagues can stop with the excuses, the guy is past it, washed up, a fraud.

What agenda do you have against other Blues with a different opinion to yourself?

Dissapointing I must say - used to be one of the good guys was our Eggs.

….being comfortable with being relegated goes against everything this football club is about. Brian Labone cutting a solitary figure walking along Goodison Rd before the end of a game with Coventry that would see us relegated with the wrong result. He couldn’t sit through those agonising last 10mins, all of our stomachs were in knots.

A founding member club fighting for its proud existence in the top flight, I find it astounding any Evertonian would be content being relegated. I also find it very wrong that an Evertonian thinks our fan base is vile when that is a million miles away from the vast majority of Toffees.

As for difference opinion about the character who’s running our club, I can’t respect the contrary views as I would normally respect the contrary views. I apologise for my angst, but Benitez is not only demonstrating he’s a poor coach he’s also demonstrating he’s an unfit individual to represent my club. It’s so disappointing that a few remain dedicated to him.

@Theoneandonly

You only signed up to say Everton should appoint Benitez.

Im not sure why you use terms such as "us" and "we".

No one cares if youre an Evertonian or not.

Player Valuation: £8m

Hes on 12m a year in China, with 2 years left.

Good luck paying 24m compo plus a 4 year contract for 48m.

72m to appoint a manager who relegated Newcastle.

LOL
He's got 15 months left. His contract was for 18 months.

From what I understand the 12m is for the 18 months, so 8m per year. He was on 6m at Newcastle.

He hardly relegated Newcastle, he only had 9 matches to save them and they only lost twice in those matches. Steve McClaren relegated them

He did very well at Valencia.

At Liverpool he had Carragher, Gerrard + brought in Mascherano, Torres and Alonso but the other signings were mostly awful.

Was awful at Inter, ok short term at Chelsea not good at Napoli or Madrid and ok at Newcastle.

I dont see the fuss...i think hes massively overrated based on Valencia and Liverpool and if were going for experience + a big name theres others out there.

Just because his family lives in the city how does this make him a more attractive proposition than a real top manager...i mean give him Klopps squad a couple of years ago and i cant see Benitez doing as well.

We need to either stick with Silva allowing him to develop over time or get someone who can go toe to toe with the very best.
Carragher was on the verge of being sold when Rafael got there, he was tried as a right back, midfielder and many other positions. Rafael moved him in the middle and he became one of the best centre backs in the league. Gerrard was utilised as a deep holding midfielder and a right midfielder until Rafael got there and turned him in to the best attacking midfielder in the league.

His signings at Liverpool include Reina, Agger, Skrtel, Sissoko, Xabi Alonso, Luis Garcia, Zenden, Crouch, Bellamy, Kuyt, Aurelio, Mascherano, Torres, Benayoun, Lucas, Meireles. He also transformed their academy and brought in Sterling, Suso, Wisdom, Flanagan, Ayala, Coady, Spearing. Was partly responsible for bringing in Suarez and Coutinho too.

His time at Inter was a failure, but he asked for investment in order to overhaul the ageing squad, which was denied and look at them now. What have they achieved since?

He was a success at Chelsea, no matter how you look at it. Took them from 7th to 3rd. Won the Europa League. Turned David Luiz and Mata in to 50m players. Was actually going to take over in the Summer before, but the champions league win brought Di Matteo some more time. Rafael left on good terms with Roman and the players.

His time at Napoli was a huge success. Won the League Cup, haven't won it since. Won their charity shield for the first time in 14 years, haven't won it since. Got to the semi finals of the Europa league. Haven't got as far in Europe since. Finished 3rd and 5th in the league, which is about average for them. The Owner wanted him to stay and offered him a 3 year deal, but Rafael was homesick.

Signed Mertens, Callejon, Albiol, Higuain, De Guzman, Gabbiadini, Jorginho, Zapata, Reina, Koulibali, Ghoulam at Napoli. A team which set them up for years.

His time at Madrid was average. He wasn't allowed to sign any players apart from Casemeiro due to the amount spent the previous few years. He wanted to get rid of players, but wasn't allowed. Got told which players he had to play and had interference in all his operations. Unbeaten in the Champions League, 3rd in the league with a game in hand when he left.

His time at Newcastle can't be considered less than a success, he's worshiped up there
