Early days.
A lot of fans sharpened knives before a ball was kicked.
Injuries.
Squad full of spineless jellyfish.
Couple of wins from looking alright in the table.
Who else? Anyone now is a bit doomed so replace him when the DOF finds someone better.
Using him like Chelsea did made sense to me. He was a better choice than Nuno Santo and Howe.
etc etc.

That was me - but the last few weeks has demonstrated that Benitez is - in my opinion, no longer holding the fort but being given thumbs up to try and build another one.

That paints another picture entirely.

There's changes happening which we assume is under Benitez' instruction and I'm just not convinced. This is a manager who it's hard to imagine ever being far away from things turning very nasty so to give him the autonomy to make long term decisions is a bad mistake.

But then, with no DOF - we've not got many at the club who I'd trust to make those decisions.

A real mess.

Chris Bascombe? May as well be an article in the Anfield Wrap if it’s written by him.

He’s fallen out with one player Digne. Any other player who has spoken to the media has come out in praise of him so far: Gray, Townsend, Gordon, Branthwaite, DCL, Doucoure, even Richarlison up to this point.

These players are an absolute shambles so if they had all fallen out with Benitez I doubt we would see the type of display we saw against Arsenal.

If more evidence comes to light then great, I’ll change view, but at the moment all we have is Digne sidelined and a kopite writing about how all the players hate him despite most coming out in support for him so far. We also have a sulking Richarlison going off even though he was injured.
Allan questioned his tactics too

“I think we are going in the right direction”

He’s taking the piss here.

We’ve had one decent 90 minute performance all season away at Brighton.

And we all know is if he picks up one or two decent results , instead of enjoying them, his “defenders” in the fan base will be right in there trying to wind others up. It’s all so predictable.
