It’s not odd at all. All three were either close to or over a decade ago. They’re irrelevant. Football has moved on significantly and there is NOTHING in his recent employments to suggest he has moved with it.

Howard Kendall had incredible pedigree. Bringing him back for a third spell was an act of lunacy/desperation. And that was with a manager who the fans were predisposed to love.

What a manager did a decade ago means vastly less (if it means anything at all) than what they’ve done recently.
So better to have someone like Nuno with no real track record in management?

Newcastle was not that long ago

I’m not saying Benitez is perfect obviously but what / who else is the solution then?

Sometimes you have to be realistic about your position and do the best you can with what’s available - it’s good that the fans have high expectations but need to balance with some realism

Newcastle wasn’t that long ago, you’re right.

He got relegated.

High expectations? No. More than 8 points from 13 games? Yes.

You say Newcastle wasn’t that long ago as if he did well there.

They were utterly dreadful.

OK - you’ve exposed yourself here

Did he not get them back up?

It seems your underlying drive is emotional - the Liverpool link? Hence not taking a balanced view and looking just for negatives

That’s the problem with some of our fanbase - emotion rather than logic driven

He was popular with the Newcastle fans - have a look at this:

Ahh, so you’re fine with him getting us relegated, so long as he gets us promoted again?

I said earlier you were 100% on a windup. Should have stuck with my initial assessment. So weird.
