It was more the principle of being afforded time rather than specifically replicating the run of results….
It had nothing to do with being afforded time. The comments were these:

This isn’t “the first sign of a bad run”. It’s a historically bad run of results and - arguably more importantly - truly woeful performances.

There’s not a manager in the league (and certainly not at a club of our size) who would have survived this run.
Except David Moyes…

You claimed moyes was excused a run this bad. Well that's not true, because he never had a run this bad. Like I say, he had also earnt a bad run by that point.

We are talking about the genius who set up with a midfield 2 against Liverpool and City, who gave Brentford and Crystal Palace all the time in the world against us by sitting back and letting them have possession, who somehow managed to lose 5:2 to Watford and who took over a side with a very solid defence, especially when defending set pieces, he decided to play an ultra defensive style and yet, that solid unit can no longer defend. From set pieces they look as if they have never met each other.

Tactically excellent my arse.
set pieces have been snot to bits with the loss of Mina and Dcl. We played an unfit Richi against Palace, hardly surprising we didn't play on the front foot. We were beating Watford with ten minutes to go, just one of those things. I can see you have doubts Roy, am I right? In which case, I would suggest that we judge him once the key players are back from injury, and he's been allowed to spend some money, wheel and deal some of the duffers out of the club.

I’d wager we’ll finish ahead of Brighton. Potter has also had a lot longer with his players, and isn’t battling injuries to his best players. It’s just reinforcing the point that all these managers who supposedly would do so much better with us like Bielsa Potter Smith Hasenhuttl, they’ve all hit rough times with their clubs despite being in far better circumstances than Benitez is in
Wow, we will finish ahead of Brighton? That's great!

You have named a bunch of average managers to prove your point but lets just say you are right, your handpicked manager list means nothing anyway! (Who the hell has said Hassenhuttl???) Your point reinforces nothing at all!

None of it is a reason to stick with a manager who is doomed anyway. And he is doomed, he always was.

If we can't defend a set piece because we're missing one defender and our striker then that is absolutely a problem with the manager.

A matter of opinion I guess - he came 15th, 7th and 17th in his first 3 seasons - so presumably the 7th earnt him the patience with the 17th?

But the fact was expectations were lower when he joined as previous few years we’d been bottom half

He raised expectations by delivering decent league positions on limited resources

But these days not many managers would be afforded coming as close to relegation as that 17th

But that was down to individual moments what tactical masterclass did Benitez provide? And we were back to turgid against Palace.

But when we lose because of individual moments that’s on the manager? Convenient argument that the wins aren’t down to him but the losses are, very convenient.

The saving us from relegation when he first joined and then taking us to 7th in the next season earnt him the time.

Personally not really looking to shoot holes in any managers in the early stages of their tenure - after a decent period perhaps if they haven’t delivered

My question was more who might you find who we could attract and you wouldn’t shoot holes in?

I suspect it could be a short list, if not a blank sheet of paper?
I actually think you may well be tho?
