We finished 5th twice under him as well, 6th, 7th 4 times. So he did come close.

Purple patch over a season and a half? He saved them from relegation before being let go, then was brought back in to save them again before the following season getting 6th, where they are now. Hardly a purple patch. A purple patch would be being unbeaten in like 5 games, and then winning 1 from 11 following that. Benitez was the definition of purple patch this season.

It's not an opinion either, in the last 2 decades, has moyes been our best manager? Only one to get us to finals, regularly had us in Europe and our highest finish. Please show me which manager has done better for us in that time.

You don't support us, so stop trying to tell our fans how to think or feel. It's egotistical of you to think you have that right or that you know better when you don't know anything about us other than what you quickly Google or you have learnt from having supported Liverpool your entire life.

If benitez does win a trophy, then yes he would be deemed more successful. If that is while we are flirting with relegation, then maybe not. He hasn't earnt the same respect Moyes had with us. And only a kopite would suggest that he has. Because so far, benitez has won nothing with us. Hell, he has barely won a game with us.

Fair enough Benitez has won nothing.. but neither did Moyes.. you mention the league positions.. on paper they look pretty decent enough but when you look a little deeper the club was as far away from top four as you could get because Moyes never dented or even threatened to break up the top four of United.. Arsenal.. Chelsea or Liverpool on any sort of regular basis..
Look if you want to appoint Moyes or think he has better standing in the game than Benitez it’s up to you... as for me making comments or observations I am entitled to that just as much as you so get used to that my friend.. you are not anymore special than anybody else that posts..it’s a forum and that’s what it’s for.. people to agree and disagree on the Club in question..

We haven’t really played wingers for a long time.

Richarlison has often been on one flank acting as more of a wide forward. Then he’s nearly always been partnered by one of Siggurdson/Bernard/James cutting in off one of the wings. There’s been some run outs for Walcott and Iwobi at times but neither have provided any consistency.

This is the first season for a long time we’ve tried to put out pacey wingers on both flanks.

Would be good to see Gray Richarlison and a new Right winger behind DCL on a consistent basis. Pace and power in a consistent front four.

Richarlison and Dom will be sold ASAP by Benny to bring in Inferior and cheaper players. Anyone who thinks they are staying needs to take the blue tinted specs off

Trophies wont be appearing any time soon; but a disciplined squad will be in place on his departure. That's success of sorts from where we stand right now.

I have a funny feeling about the FA cup. Champions League & congestion of domestic games might hinder the usual suspects, & with our players coming back...

Listen Moyes has had a purple patch.. he will soon find his natural level as will West Ham.. they are a top six to ten team and that’s all they are.. Moyes is a bog standard Premier League manager nothing more.. what did he actually achieve at Everton? One top four finish and never came close before or after that one season.. he never even won a trophy.. you carry on with your opinion he’s the best manager in two decades... tell you what if Benitez can win a League Cup or F.A.Cup in next two seasons he will then be the best manager in two decades because that will be more than Moyes achieved..

How has my mask slipped... never had one on to begin with... just a person who takes a broad interest across the board in most of the Premiership clubs.. not breaking any rules am aware of with that..

You keep using injuries and transfer spend as justification for Benitez' failings(though Ranieri and Gerrard put paid to that) yet you say Moyes who had close to a net spend of nothing over years achieving Europe and being in the mix more often than not, including semis and final is no achievement? Where/when has Benitez won anything when not a club with rich resources or a top squad already in place? Compare like with like or not at all, you don't get it both ways.

I don't want to appoint moyes. But you are coming on here, and slagging off the manager who has achieved most with us in 20 years, when you don't actually support us while praising to the hilt, an ex kopite who has achieved zero with us other than taking us on our worst run in 3 decades.

Ive never said I'm more special than anyone else. The difference between us is I'm not telling people how to support the club, I will debate but I don't tell them how they should think and feel and dont go around saying other posters live in a small world, saying other posters (actual fans of this club) aren't honest, being divisive by talking about 'sky sports brigade' and making out like fans under 30 shouldn't have a say. I don't use phrases like rafalution or quote carlsberg slogan (which is obviously a way to purposefully rile people) or just generally be condescending to other posters.

In regards to Everton I would argue I am more improtant directly to Everton than someone who doesn't support the club as I actually go to the game, buy things from the club and am therefore a stakeholder in the club as put my own money into it regularly. The same way at every club, they will consider their own fans more important than other clubs fans.

But what about the sky sports brigade (fans under 30) mate. You have implied several times that their views aren't as valid and are wrong because sky is all about money.

This is the big worry for me, if/when a few of our better players have departed, we will struggle to attract anyone better than an average mid to lower range player.

If Benitez has any ideas of this nature, he needs showing the door now!
