Kind of the reason I mentioned it. Because the goalposts change constantly depending on the manager. (Personally I think net spend isn't a real argument. If they have they spent the money they have been backed, but im using it to prove a point)So you don't use net spend for Benitez at Newcastle but you do for Moyes while he was at Everton.
Seems like you shift the goalposts to try and make your argument more convincing each time.
All our recent managers have been backed.
Southampton 48%
Burnley 52%
Brighton 34%
Arsenal 36%
Chelsea 20%
They are the games you mentioned above where "we took the game to the opposition to get the win or draw". A few more for interest
Leeds (A) 30%
Utd (A) 28%
City (A) 23%
Liverpool 31%
Only the 52 against Burnley listed above and the 60% away at Brentford are the only games we have had more then 50% possession, its completely unsustainable. We are 2nd bottom for average possession over the season, only Newcastle have worse.
Bottom 6 are
Newcastle
Everton
Burnley
Watford
Villa
Norwich
So you have the bottom 4, ourselves and Villa. 5 of the bottom 6, the cause and effect can be seen, you cannot survive in this league trying to play without the ball
42.4% possession.
everyone recognises as a failed manager? I recognise that he needs players who will give everything on the pitch, a bit of depth to cope with injuries. When he has had time to do that (after next summer) I will begin to judge him. Hell of a mess to clear up first.so.... the Board (and us) are persisting with what everyone recognises as a failed manager (purely based on results compared to the last 5 sackings) because the Board don't have a clue and didn't back him - this literally makes no sense! ... we really are more f-ed up than I thought.
No, things change, nothing stays the same. If it did nobody would bother. It was always Liverpool then Man U, Arsenal then Chelsea, then City. Dont forget Leicester, It takes longer now but it happens. You could say that about us to. Fan expectation is far higher than anything that can ever be achieved. Spurs will never win the premier league or any other significant trophy.
We will likely never win anything ever again in my lifetime. Seventh is our trophy.
Tottenham is a fair call. Arsenal is miles off and, in my opinion, Chelsea's European trophies far outweigh the few titles difference between us. Winning a title 2 centuries ago is worth less than a Champion's league. Besides, they've won loads of domestic cups too.Is it?
Weve won more titles than 2 of them. We are miles bigger than Tottenham. What have they done to be bigger than us?
I'm sorry, but some fans dont know the size of our club.
Maybe I’m a fool but what I would say is I reckon our fit 1st 11 is better than ArsenalsOnly a fool or a liar would claim that we're a bigger club than Arsenal. I can't think of a single argument, even a tenuous one, that could be made for us being a bigger club. They have more trophies, a better stadium and a better current team.
Whilst they may be a disgusting club they are still bigger.Maybe I’m a fool but what I would say is I reckon our fit 1st 11 is better than Arsenals
Also I have no respect for them whatsoever as a football club. Arsenal FC should be renamed Redundancy FC. They made a lot of their staff redundant during the pandemic but then go and spend 160 million on their squad. Absolutely disgusting club
So IMO Everton are better than them full stop in every way
Everton (us) yes us refused to go down that road with our employees so have a think about that
Hate them the Tory rats
I call it anti - football.I suggest you look at how Leicester won the league. You absolutely can survive in this league without majority of the possession. It’s call counter attack.
