I don't disagree Brands was more than happy to enjoy his big salary whilst not having full control. That may very well put him in the mercenary category and no-big-loss category, but my point was we'll never know if he would have been a great or disasterous DOF because he was never allowed to do what DOF's are supposed to do. By all accounts his track record in Holland was excellent, but it was never going to work here when Moshiri and Kenwright insist on meddling.

I just thought it was interesting the way a player who clearly doesn't wish to be here was defended by some and that Benitez said EXACTLY what we'd wanted to hear from an Everton manager for years but it was attacked in order to defend one of the cowards who've gone missing in games.

Probably right but I think the decider for him will be Norwich away next week. Loses that and there is no coming back imo. I don’t see us getting anything against Leicester either.
