Mate, you were literally just telling me yesterday that our only problem is defence and that we’ve no problems going forward. Despite all our stats for chances, big chances, shots on target, xg being down the bottoms of the leauge.

Either we’ve been [Poor language removed] going forward and barely look like scoring - in which case, absolutely missing DCL and Richie goes some way to explaining it OR we’ve been fine going forward and have no problem banging in the goals, in which case we’ve not missed DCL or Richie so why bring them up. Can’t have it both ways.

With Rondon at CF, no threat at all, damn near like we were playing with 10 men.

Some good, pragmatic points mate.

I understood the appointment. I didn't like it, but we had to appoint someone and I preferred him over Howe, Nuno and other names mentioned.

I understand the challenges he has. We have a rotten core of players with terrible attitudes who regularly down tools - Ancelotti/Coleman's words.

I've said a few times;

A full fit team and we're 6th-10th.
A few injuries and we're 10th-16th.

I think if sack Benitez tomorrow, we don't improve as a football club to any worthwhile level this season. We finish midtable with or without him - Sam Allardyce style.

The difficulty I have is Everton's execution of Benitez.

Sure, interim like Chelsea did. Fine.

Giving him the autonomy to rebuild? I don't think that's wise but then I don't think it's wise to allow this Everton board to try and replace him.

What I am very confident of, is Everton's big, fundamental problems are not the fella who has been here 6 months and won more in his career than I can dream of Everton winning in my lifetime, but in the boardroom.

I think if it's obvious that an organisation has problems, it's unwise for it to knowingly add to those problems. I also think that the Board are a problem only in that they decided to appoint Mother Theresa to CEO. Moshiri makes the rules, not the Board as far as I can make out.

So, hiring such a divisive and extinct manager then?

Spot on and indicative of the problem with Benitez. His stubborn arrogance has been a key negative feature of his career and he has and will seemingly never learn from his mistakes as, in his head, they are always somebody else's mistakes that caused issue. It would be great if he could prove his doubters wrong but if we are being honest these issues are a part of who he is.

He had Uzzy and Mosh written all over him!

Quote from the article from Martinez -

"We're delighted as Oumar is a player we've been following for a long time. He brings a real hunger and desire to be successful into what is already a strong squad."

And he defends his purchase in this one.

What you have stated also underlines where the problem with Digne arose. However at his age not sure I wamnt him to stay until he is in his 30s and be like coleman and baines.

The young who played at LB looks promising for the future.

The thing going in his favour is our next run of games, an injury ravaged Leicester, Norwich, Villa and Newcastle. Now I know this is Everton we're talking about and we've been absolutely atrocious under Benitez this season, but we couldn't have asked for a better run of games to kick - on from yesterdays win.
On paper yes. In reality it could end in tears I’m afraid
