cos its impossing thier beliefs on everybody to accomodate a few, If they want to eat it fair enough but don't be forcing stuff on non muslims. Is how I see it.
Is it? Or is it just accommodating them because there isn't really an opposing argument and it makes sense to do so?

Why is it? If you're mass producing food, it's better to not piss people off who eat it.
It's far better to take a blanket approach to it so everybody eats halal otherwise it would be difficult to supply the right amount to Muslim students.

And how about pissing off the people that don't particularly want to eat Halal meat? You know, the majority?

I want to eat pork. I don't particularly want to eat meat that is slaughtered under the name of Allah with one swipe of a knife and left to bleed to death (and then usually eat it without even knowing).

I'm not massively bothered, I just want the choice.

Nik, on football stuff and general other stuff you seem sound enough, but with regards to Islam you seem to be on a bigotted one-man GOT mission to make us see how evil a religion it is, as if we are not capable of rational, balanced thought ourselves. The UK will never be a stronghold of any major organised religion ever again. Not a chance.. zero.. zip. I didn't mean to deeply offend you with the EDLNIK quip, it was tongue in cheek.

You didn't offend me, you looked rather silly.

And its because I'm against bigotry that I'm against the islamisation of the uk.

Research islam. Research sharia law. Research the ****ing news and what's going on around the world today.

Does it really make such a difference to you or are you being obtuse?

You can eat pork, you know. You can even eat pork in Tower Hamlets.

Personally there is absolutely no need to kill animals in such an inhumane way. Why should everyone else have to eat halal meat? Its a barbaric ancient way of doing it and its unnessessary and cruel.

I'm not into animal rights and halal can be provided for muslims but to force non muslims to eat it is a small step but an obvious sign of them imposing themselves upon our society and it WILL get worse.

There are reasons some people don't want to eat Halal meat and they have an opposing argument(animal cruelty for one)Im not that arsed if I eat it but i wouldn't choose it and don't think it should be standard that all meat served is Halal. I think people who try and force things on others are part of why other people get so pis*ed of about these things.

At the end of the day, the animal is still being killed for meat. There is very little humane about the entire process. Why should people majorly object to halal meat? Also it's not a small step and its not a minor infringement on our liberty which will lead to ore and more and more. You get so angry at the unwillingness of Muslim communities to integrate but then find it difficult that some of their religious beliefs then impact on your life.

I fail to see your point but can you not see the hypocrisy. You are banging on about the rights for one group but then taking away the rights of another. It should be everyones right to have non halal meat and its been taken away to appease a small but very very very vocal minority.

right i DONT want this to turn into a muslim bashing/anti religion thread...

just find the fasting thing v interesting, and as it falls differently each year this years looks really tough as will only be darkness for 6 hours each day, which is the only time you can eat and drink! anyway reckon you could do it? i would be rubbish, reckon i could just about manage no food, but would find no drink virtually impossible, but millions manage it, interesting how disciplined the human body can be

and thats a schools website, so even thickos should be able to understand it!

this was prob a terrible idea....

Nice opening sentence. Unlucky mate.

Just wondering how halal meat is being forced on anyone? Isn't meat labelled halal or kosher in order for muslims or jews to be able to identify is as being OK for them? If all meat is halal, why the need to label it? I think I may recall reading something about halal and kosher slaughtered meat sometimes not making the grade after slaughter and some meat going back into the non-religious food chain. I suppose this would explain it.

I'm more concerned about what's being fed to and injected into my meat than whether a prayer is said over it or not as it's slaughtered, personally. There's no such thing as humane slaughter. It's an oxymoron. Stunning is permitted for halal slaughter, although not kosher, too, so I don't think there's particularly an animal cruelty issue to be had here. Not aside from the ones about conventional slaughter at any rate.

How am I being hypocritical? There is a huge void between finding something religiously repugnant and morally so. If you want to eat meat and you don't want to eat halal then it's still there to be eaten.

Intergrating doesn't mean everybody else has to bend over backwards and change thier ways to accomodate them. If your not arse*d by things like this being imposed on you thats fair enough, but again don't try and impose your'not arsed' belief on me cos i don't want to be served Halal meat if i haven't asked for it.
