RB Leipzig

I believe the want for fans will outweigh all that over in Germany.

Maybe.

But as for the right and wrong of it: I can see why someone in this country would view this as a luxury. We are governed appallingly and anything like the normality of football seems out of whack with reality. We need to look at this possible football comeback in Germany, however, through the prism of the German's themselves and their experience of this virus. Their experience is that Covid19 has been successfully managed by their state, and that they trust their politicians and medical experts to make the right choice on these matters. If they say its ok to let the football take place behind closed doors, then it will likely be ok.

RBL News

- Should get some news today on whether or not the Bundesliga will re-start in a couple of weeks behind closed doors. RBL heirarchy are in favour of it.
- With UEFA debating using the five-year coefficient to determine CL/EL places RBL could be shafted and end up in the EL next season.
- New deal for Klostermann is all but signed but club awaiting clarity on the financial impact of COVID-19 before agreeing to make him one of the teams highest earners.
- Youngster Fabrice Hartmann has unfortunately done his cruciate it seems after only being back in training a week post-lockdown. Belting timing and I wonder if any more injuries happen once teams go back to training after weeks of them keeping fit at home?
- Media reports in France claim RBL have won the race to sign prized PSG talent Tanguy Kouassi on a free once his contract expires.end of June. Seems there's also no truth in PSG wanting Upamecano and Mukiele.

I hope they do. That'll be a boost.

RBL COVID News

- Bundesliga and 2nd division have agreed to play "ghost" games and are ready to go as soon as the government say they can. The May 9th date is fictitious and "not realistic" but there's a conference on the 30th April with Merkel which may give a yes/no to when football can resume. Clubs will be availble for May 9th if given the green light.
- Bundesliga hope to conclude matches by 30th June but don't mind games running into July.
- Clubs will be given a financial package from TV ahead of schedule (4th and 5th installments) to help keep clubs stable but there is a re-payment mechanism sorted if the league isn't started again.
- Bundesliga require around 20,000 test for players as they will be required to take a taste at least once per week. Labs have assured this is fine but if tests run scarce they will either stop their weekly testing or even pause the league again.
- If the league is restarted then a maximum of 300 people will be involved on the matchday as broken down below (Google Translated):

The following should be allowed in the stadium :
  • 22 players and 18 substitutes
  • 20 staff members
  • 5 referees
  • 4 ball boys
  • 3 photographers
  • 4 paramedics
  • 3 hygiene officers
  • 4 folders (no idea what this is)
  • 15 employees for basic signal, video referee and game data collection
On the stands and in the function rooms:
  • 10 folders
  • 4 paramedics
  • 2 firefighters and 4 police officers
  • 5 employees of the stadium operator
  • 8 staff members
  • Delegations guest (4) and home (8)
  • 7 employees game organization
  • 2 doping control officers
  • 10 journalists
  • 4 video analysts
  • 5 hygiene officers
  • 18 employees for basic signal, video referee and game data collection
  • 23 employees of TV licensees Sky, DAZN, ARD, ZDF etc.
Outside:
  • 50 folders
  • 37 employees for basic signal, video referee and game data collection

- Club definitely want to keep Schick this Summer, currently has a 29m purchase option in the loan but club will look to reduce this with the coronavirus affecting all clubs finances.

- Turns out linked Malang Sarr's contract in fact runs to June 2020 and not 2021 so available on a free this Summer.

With a £25m (rising to £52m depending on performance) release clause and currently on £117k per week it will be easy for any big side to get him.
