Referees v Everton

Referees like Lampard said last night have no balls!

VAR was brought in to rectify mistakes and make sure big decisions are correct, I'm with you this is beyond incompetence, im not saying its against just us but it 10000% favours the big sides, change the venue and colour of the shirt and that tackle wouldnt even go to VAR, the Rodri handball 1000% gets given, blatant penalty against Southampton.

IMO VAR shouldnt get involved unless they spot the error thats clear! Not make the referee question his own decision.
The easier solution would be to scrap VAR completely and ask the ref and linesman to grow a pair and do their job. I'd rather have a human error howler than all this VAR garbage, it's destroying the spectacle.

I wish they'd scrap it, I'm sure there were nowhere near as many mistakes before VAR got introduced honestly, it is garbage and still open to human interpretation, so we may as well just let the refs get on with it.

The thing that toasted my tits about Allan’s red card and the VAR is that when Poorson went over the the monitor, he was greeted with a FREEZE FRAME of the worst looking part of the tackle, which didn’t connect. It looked a lot worse than what it was, but straight away I could see what was about to happen. We just screwed over their narrative on this occasion.

he gave them everything, any touch on their player and it was a free kick. anything that happened to us was play on

Got to say whenever we face the money men of this league we get laughable decisions against us time after time.

The referring standard and level of corruption needs to be exposed and we should do all we can as a club and fans to bring these officials to account.

VAR deemed this not reckless and out of control but Allan's was....LOL

Maybe so but if Newcastle had gotten either of those against us we'd have had pitchforks out.
Agreed but it doesn't take away from the fact that a number of those type of incidents (not colemans though cos even incompetence/bias couldn't have given that one) have led to penalties for certain teams in this league.

I think this deserves its own thread because it’s getting beyond a joke now. This season in particular I’ve noticed things start to veer away from incompetence and into the realms of suspicious.

Last night was the most overtly bent display of refereeing I’ve seen in an Everton game since... well, since Chris Kavanagh the other week. And erm... whoever the clown shoes team on the VAR was against Southampton. I’m not normally a refereeing conspiracy theorist, but since the introduction of VAR I’m becoming more and more suspicious that there’s some sort of, how should I put it. “Special operation” going on to actually relegate us. Is it possible for an independent body to investigate what’s going on behind the scenes here as I feel like the Premier League and the referees association absolutely stink to high heaven.
I hear what you're saying Mike, we're not getting the rub of the green, the freeze frame they showed the ref was when both Allan's feet were off the ground and that alone meant he had to go IMO, the ref made the right call in real time, Allan merely tried to stop him not injure him but once called to that screen it was only going one way.
The City one was the sickened and without any doubt that one was corrupt, last night was just harsh.
I blame Allan for being a short arse.

I may be reading this wrong but this sentence does not make sense.

The ref did make the right decision in real time, the yellow card. This meant anything else meant he did not have to go, regardless of the angle/timing of a freeze frame. This is not the way they should be making decisions, it is farcical to think that a freeze frame alone could send somebody off.

If they showed the tackle from different angles, in full speed, there would not have been any justification to send him off, I mean he might still have because of the incompetence. What they did was purposefully show the freeze frame that gave no context to the force of the challenge or his body position before and after both feet were off the ground. We could show a freeze frame of 90% (maybe even more) of late tackles and they will look like red cards at some point in the movement.

Yeah maybe I didn't are it clear, I thought the ref saw it in real time and called it correctly with a yellow, but once VAR gets involved and Allan is shown with both feet off the ground then that changes the landscape for the officials and unfortunately he had to go. Entirely my opinion and in this case I appreciate where others see it differently.

Not sure it is 'against us' per se, but I think it is certainly 'for' certain other teams.

Newcastle just as one example, have had a considerable amount of incredibly dubious decisions go against them throughout the season. Same as us.

However, they have also gained some really dodgy ones against us.

I think there is a general level of incompetence with it (explaining some of the poor decisions in games like yesterday) but also a level if potential bias/corruptness but working for some specific teams at the top.
