The “I got a feeling” crew for the game against City at home is called blind and deluded optimism. I get it, I really do. Maybe we can be helped if they extend their lead in the title race before then and they play their “reserves”…. Alvarez, Foden, Bernardo.. what a bunch of duds. I’m not sure it’s possible to be as lucky as we’d need to get to win that one.
Goodison Park is a walkover this season, lost 9 at home already, only Southampton have lost more.

We drew with them at the Etihad with Lampard in charge. Why are we automatically getting battered at Goodison?

Leeds are already preparing for the championship.

Forest got their first win against brighton the other day in about 10 games.

Leicester are the only ones who may be able to fight their way out of it but I think they will need to beat Fulham away from home and not sure they will do it.

I still think it’s Forest and Leeds going down with Southampton
They're not though. They know 4 points will likely be enough, and West Ham A and Spurs H, both with nothing at all to play for last 2 games, gives them a great shot at that.

There’s nothing automatic with football results. But there is absolutely no logic to suggest we get anything from that game. They’re by far the best team in Europe, and well… we might have the worst team in our history.

I’m really starting to lean more towards this view after our game against them. We could have had 3 or 4 against them and they scored from a set piece scramble and a mistake (although well taken admittedly). Wolves should have been 3 up against them before they smash and grabbed a comeback, they should be down already. I think the Fulham game is key, if they lose that it looks very difficult for them given how they’re playing.

That’s presuming Klopp doesn’t throw their game against them. Wouldn’t put it past him at all if top 4 is mathematically gone by then. He’s bitter enough to do it.
Tbh, I think CL is beyond them and they know it right now. They still went out and won the last 4 games though. I reckon Klopp might want at least a EL place next season as he'll have a lot of bedding in to do and he's seen how Arsenal and United have coped - even benefitted - with a European campaign outside the CL this season.

They'll keep playing for the remainder of this season IMO.

Leicester: Fulham have 3 home games after the Liverpool game to pile up points to underline the good progress they've made...starting with Leicester.

If Leicester get beat there I cant see anything but a very nervy final day against West Ham.

I don't think Liverpool will be throwing any games as the last thing they want is to end up in the Europa Conference competition. They have a solid shot at 5th-6th, and that's Europa League, and that's what they'll be aiming for.

Haaland won't play if the Champions league semi is in the balance. He will be saved for the 2nd leg at the Etihad I think.
And if Keane is still in the team by then we are done anyway
Surely even Dyche knows that absurdity can't continue.
I don't know, I feel like it's going to continue, or if not he will bring in coady.

I got the feeling that they were happy draws because they banked on getting a win against either Fulham or Newcastle. Obviously that didn't materialise and we are where we are.

It's an incredible ask to get something from our next 2 games. Forest and Leicester will fancy their chances of opening up a gap on us.
if we somehow managed a win against Brighton - which is a massive ask but not impossible then we have a chance.
After Fulham I said that we were down and we'd be lucky to get another point but results keep going our way and as long as that happens we aren't out of it and as long as Dom stays fit we have a punchers chance.
a Wolves and Bournmouth side who will both be safe and probably have little to play for should be seen as golden chances to pick up 6 points.
City is City - the score will be whatever City want it to be
I think it all rests on Brighton.

Because that draw was as unexpected as anything and they could/should've battered us then as well. In fact:

Now they're out for trophies and it's not January, doubt they'll stop chasing that, and we'll probably play a high line for no reason and hope for the best like against Leicester.

I'm getting to pretty certain in my thinking that 5 points will be enough to survive. If City batter Leeds and run the score up and Forest dont beat S'ton, even more so.

Could well be that 4 more points does it.

If we go all out for wins in the last 4 games the way we did at Leicester we'll get the required total.

They also more recently pumped Wolves 6 nil so yeah I think we can be worried as we aren't lucky enough to be playing them 72 hours after an extra time semi
Understood, But we’re also playing them 72 hours after they play united again in the league for 90+mins.

They are a very good side, I can’t argue with that, but I don’t want to believe that Everton should just go there, accept getting walloped and thank them for it.

I hope Dyche get the team selection right (a big ask I know!) and we take our opportunities, as we will get some during the match.
