Was bored earlier, so had a look at some stats.

Over the last 20 Premier League seasons, the average number of points required to stay up (without relying on goal difference) has been 35.7

Only twice would a team have survived with fewer than 34 points

40 points or above has only been required twice

I'll feel a lot happier if we get to 35/36 before the last day

we definitely need one more win at least i feel....

We're on 32 points.

One more win gives us a 87% chance of survival.

One more win and a point gives us 95% chance of survival.

... but who knows? It depends on other teams - who saw us beating Brighton 5-1? That's not pessimism of cryarsing, it's this;

There's always the odd shock result in the run in - it looks like we got it.

I felt Fulham was the difference and it would send us down - winning that would have made the difference in keeping us up, but then we go and beat Brighton to recover those 3 points.

I've wrote off Man City, just hoping we don't get any injuries/suspensions or get battered.

Depending on other results, look to take a point at Wolves and then its heart in mouth come Bournemouth. A team who tend to be a bit of a bogey team for us, a team who have already spanked us twice this season.
If the players went into Brighton seeking revenge for the reverse fixture they got it. We also owe Wolves a beating and Bournemouth. Hope they have this attitude.

I agree, we cant have the mentality that all the other sides around us are going to lose every game.
Oh we can. Their results are the only reason we now have a half decent chance of staying up and sustained me through the last few round of matches prior to Brighton it's the only

If they go into the final 3 games with the same attitude and levels they did on Monday I don't think we will have a problem staying up.

City are still city regardless of how we play, if they turn up they will win, but the last 2 games against teams who have nothing to play for, we SHOULD be wanting it more than they do.

Could say they'd been thinking the same thing about us up until Brighton. Nothing is given. Allardyce with have Leeds well up for there game against Newcastle this weekend.

Yes, I completely agree for most it's nerves and - as Ive said before myself - 'reverse psychology'.

But there's been a harder edge to some. A joyousness at the mess we're in. Unforgivable for me.
I think there is some of that but some others that are so stressed out by the situation that the only way they can cope is by expecting the absolute worst. Every contribution they make is framed in that context.

If you expect nothing (other than a negative outcome) then you can't be disappointed. It's the hope they can't handle.

I'm slightly concerned about the state of worry about some members here in that respect. The level of anxiety and fretfulness is just unhealthy for something none of us have a shred of control over.

Just reading , that supporters , were still nervous, even when we were leading 3-0 and even 4-0. I admit that I was also. I’m always wanting Everton to score another goal. Not because I want to see teams stuffed , but just because I want to reach a point in a match were we can all sit back and relax , knowing that we are going to win. That’s how this current bunch of players has us all. That’s how our manager has us all , ( his reluctance to use subs ).
Remember back in the mid 1980s , we go a goal up , then we win that match , no worries , no hassle. Go two up , and it’s curtains for the opposition. Never any thoughts of teams getting back at us. But not so nowadays. We are still jittery , when leading 3-0. And rightly so. Just as well we had Mina playing the other day. Just hope he stays fit , for the next few weeks. And not forgetting , an inform Pickford. Keep clean sheets , and we ain’t losing. That could be what keeps us up.

Anyhow, what about the thought of relegation . I admit to being worried , especially after that Fulham defeat , I really thought that we would beat them. I was getting used to the prospect of playing in the championship. I was getting used to the idea that it might not be that bad. I was thinking that we could rebuild. Keep a few senior players , and bring in a few youngsters , and win a few matches , and bounce straight back to the premier league. Ok , I know that it wouldn’t be as easy as that. Especially with our dud board running the show. And then , we go out and beat Brighton. How can we be in the bottom 3 , and then play like that. Maybe we are too good to go down. Maybe we can get out of this mess. Maybe there is a decent football team in there , somewhere.
I’m going to go out on a limb here , and say that we will stay up. And I’m going to say that we can get something from the upcoming Man City match.
I’m keeping faith that we can show that the win at Brighton was not a fluke. I’m keeping faith that we can produce something like that performance , at least one more time , this season . Maybe even twice.
We can’t be relegated. How can we play like we did against Brighton , and end up relegated. So let’s rock and roll , and stay in this premier league for next season. And build a team , that doesn’t make us nervous , even when we are leading 2-0 or 3-0. Up the Toffees. Our staying up , beautiful Toffees.
Ramble over.
