Be only fair to judge Dyche’s Everton after the Leeds game. Lose that one then we are staring into the abyss. If we can’t beat Leeds then even the most optimistic elements of the fan base will surely melt away.

I read that like you meant they are absymal. They took the game to man united at both old trafford and elland road. Missed lots of chances. They create a lot. It wont be a surprise if they slot a few at Goodison. I'd possibly put them as slight favourites seeing as we create very little from open play.

You have to judge us with this new manager in charge only.

1 win, 1 loss against two elite teams.
Unfortunately I have no faith that even Pep would be able to get anything out of that shower of sh*te on the pitch last night
The performance and commitment was inexcusable
Ps the RS are far from elite at present

Is today's Everton becoming yesterday's Coventry?

For those of old enough to remember, Coventry in the 1970's - late 90's. They spent the best part of three decades staving off relegation. Apart from a couple of good seasons around 77-78, one FA Cup in 87, they languished in the bottom half of the table. Eventually fate caught up with them. They have never recovered.

If we go down, there are no guarantees of a quick return. We may spend years down. When or if we get back up, there's every possibility we become one of the perennial yo-yo clubs - at home with Sunderland, Palace, WBA, Bolton, etc. etc.

It will be an awful irony if the end of Goodison coincides with the end of top flight football. A brand new stadium to celebrate a brand new era in the championship.

These overpaid muppets need to dig deep & show some pride in our great club.

They were well up for that last night. They'd have beaten most teams who took points off them in recent weeks.

We lost the game 30 seconds after the Tarkowski header hit the post and no one was alive enough to put the rebound in.

Thats zero excuse not to have matched being well up for it. In fact it makes it even worse.

Same to be honest. I think they have much more than us. Which doesn’t bode well as I see them and Forest as the only realistic teams we can catch.

I'm not excusing it. I'm saying that Liverpool increased their effort and quality and that we weren't playing their unfocused team of the past few weeks that others have faced.

We played well under par there, but that's been said of better Everton teams than this.

I'm not up for consoling people here today or pacifying them. I say only this: we faced Arsenal and Liverpool when we hired Dyche and NO ONE expected 3 points from those two games. So maybe we should get some context on the forum today?

It's Leeds on Saturday and if we dont win that then people will have something to complain about...but a regulation 2-0 defeat at Anfield does not fall under the category of "something to complain about".

Thats why they have a get out of jail free card all the time. The importance of this fixture last night cant just be brushed off. The performance was vital if not the result. Switching it on and off isnt going to cut it. Its long overdue this sort of thing was addressed. You can get beat but go down showing it hurt.
Thats what really bothers me.

Leeds is must win. Arsenal had the feeling of a free hit but the pressure will be on us to perform in this game. We will see what these players are made of off the back of last night. Another limp defeat like Wolves and Soton and the writing will be on the wall.

Need to stay calm. Yesterday was a setback but the next game is the big one. Need to get ahead of them and close the gap on the pack above
If we beat Leeds the effect of going likely 16th and two places above the relegation zone this weekend will be immense.

People will feel better all over this organisation: fans and players.

If we get an 'Arsenal-type' performance we'll get those three points, Calvert-Lewin or not.

I liked em when they had Strachan as boss, and we can only dream of Huckerby and Dublin carrying the threat for us now. Got themselves in trouble with the ground and can't recover. Highfield rd, just 22k. given up 2005.
