Relegation 23/24 Thread

I think that result against Saudi Arabia was the worst thing for Bournemouth's survival. Masks all the problems Iraloa is setting them up with. Burnley is probably the more likely to make the change sooner rather than later. Luton, Sheff Utd, totally agree, can't see anyone getting a tune out of those squads at this level.

It suits us in a way mate the longer they stick with him at Bourmouth equally Burnley. Hope the Saudis stay in this bad patch of injuries we have them in three weeks and they wont fancy us at all. We have Burnely in our Xmas programme too - i think if Kompany gets through the international window he will get to the new year.

I agree with all that.

I hate it when teams unexpectedly come up , their manager has done a great job getting them there but they are clearly uncompetitive and they think the answer is to sack the manager.

That said it is so difficult to arrest a negative slide and reoccurring defeats even after relegation.

So yes if I were Luton or Sheff U I'd stick with the manager.

I can't get my head around Burnley. They looked fantastic in The Championship, far too good and I thought they and Kompany would stay up comfortably. However they have been rank and now lost their only striker for god knows how long.
I genuinely don't know what I'd do if I was Burnley's owner , probably stick with him I think.

Bournemouth is a really strange one. They had manager who did really well last season but got rid. Some good players there but terrible results until recently. I think you'd have to stick with him for now at least

Would love to see Bourmouth go down - for what they did to O'Neill - that was banannas.

It will be a dogmatic approach that will do Kompany there mate, they had quasi PL players or good young City players on loan last season mate, so they were the big fish down there and could afford to play expansively with the ball, up here they are a gold fish - signed lads who dont know the league and benched some players who do. They wont be staying up by playing through the lines in this league. So it will be Kompany and his dogmatic approach that will send them down or be his own undoing - like Lampard here.

If it was me id hit the reset button bring lads like Brownhill and Cork back in make games competitive and see where it gets you. Id expect someone to go in there do just that and make a fist of a competition of it - they have some good players, but the longer he stays there the better.

Love how we win a few games and some people are all “close the thread!”

We’re not safe yet

It’s that sort of complacency that led to the past two seasons

Until we’re mathematically safe, we’re in a relegation battle
What supporters on here post has
nothing to do with why we were in a relegation battle the last 2 seasons.
Everyone is entitled to their views on it but it won't change what happens on the pitch

Without the potential 12 point deduction, we could close this thread. A spine of Pickford, branthwaite, onana and DCL grinding out results like we are is not in danger. Particularly with how bad the 3 promoted teams have been so far.

That ffp charge looming over us is the only reason I have doubts and even then I'm starting to feel more confident we'd be okay.

Just finished watching the Burnley Sky documentary. They have made a massive investment in Kompany with a big long contract. Presumably it would be very expensive to sever that and Burnley like us are struggling financially. I would be shocked if the don’t give him until the new year.

Injuries. A long term injury to Pickford or Tarks is devastating to us

Not worried about Fulham. If that bottom 3 fall away then they may completely implode.

Better concentrate on us picking up points than them nowadays look upwards.
Its a big if an a big gamble.

We need to sustain NO points deductions because we simply don't know what happens if DCL or Tarkowski or both get injured for long periods.

I guess people maybe want a break from the negativity? On the same point of being mathematically safe from relegation, maybe we should have a PL champions thread until we are mathematically not able to win the title. Daft idea hey?

Rather have that than the negativity in here as you quite rightly pointed out.
I've said it in here the last 2 seasons and I'll say it again, we will not go down this season.

If you can get about 20 points away from home in a season then you'll get 40 + points in season even if home form remains below average.

Team is already on 10 away points so streets ahead of last two seasons in terms of mentality.

What has greatly impressed me is already shown can go to a West Ham and scrap out a 1-0. And can also win a high scoring end to end game like Palace yesterday. Brentford was a great performance aswell as they've had an excellent run since that game and are probably going to finish top half this season.

I think that's the difference to previous two years as side was a joke on the road, constantly beaten if conceding first so that just would pile the pressure onto must win Goodison games.

Feels already a more relaxing season although of course points deductions or a few injuries can quickly alter that. Pre match there were rumours of Doucoure not training and being available and everyone saw he was probably the difference between winning or not yesterday, not the first time in last six months that's been the case with him so he's one along with Tarks, Branth and DCL that simply has to stay fit and can't be out for 4-5 games.

Fulham are a poor team this year. Actually look like the Everton of 21-23 in the endless games DCL missed.

They need to get in a decent CF in January otherwise them rather than Bournemouth will be the ones the promoted teams will be trying to catch as we head into April and May.
