If we do survive whether it's a Sam Allardyce style or like one of Moyes's early seasons, or it's a last day Wimbledon or last couple of games like 95 (and win the cup), no one better say next year "we were never going down" or
"there was always 3 teams worse than us".

1 win since the 25th September, 3 wins since August, 4 defeats in a row, 11 defeats in 15, poor losses, 2 points off the drop zone. We're Everton Football Club. Sort this mess out and get moving upwards. To use a Joe Royle statement this season should be a 'watershed' for the club.

It should in terms of the recruitment/medical departments as both need completely ripping up.

We've gone most of the season with about 3-4 key players missing which is simply unsustainable for a squad as average as ours is.

Add in the RB/LB/CB/CM positions we need a big sale in the summer to fund a rebuild.

I think 35 points will be more than enough to stay out of the bottom 3.

Is 16 points do-able in the last 17 games? Almost certainly.

I think it will be very close. I think the team will pick up 12-15 points from the remaining games. and it will be just enough, but I think we will still be at risk when we play the last 2-3 games.

A nervous few months ahead.

No one should be complacent but no one should panic either.

17 games left, that’s half the season.
The thing is if we did what we did in the 17 games previous we won't only be relegated but we'll be routed firmly to the bottom.

We have had a bad run - under our new Manager we will win enough games to stay up ......
Exactly. With Lampards experience. He should easily be able to stop a team of overpaid cowards plummeting towards the bottom 3 after 1 win in 16.

We have no chance of shutting teams out at the back and nicking draws and 1 goal wins. That's not possible with this group.

We have to become a team with the mindset that we'll have a go at out-scoring the opposition and go all out as an attacking force.

Lampard's transfer activity suggests that was his thinking too.

We better learn to do what S'ton did the other night at Spurs and get that self belief or we really are doomed. We have to take the brakes off and be brave and outscore other teams. It's the only shot we have - and we have the players to do that.
And this is why Richarlison and DCL will be defined by the remainder of this season. Take the Leeds game. We will almost certainly have chances to score. They need to be taken. No more angry Richi body langauge after scuffing a one-on-one, and no more DCL smirks after ballooning a tap in. The time for excuses is over. Lampard will probably have us attack - he's got no record as a defensive coach - so chances will be made. Whether they are taken is another matter.
