2020/21 Richarlison

Last season was largely disappointing for him, his form was mixed and at times he did seem out of sorts.

CA was the kind of manager to put an arm around a player but I think the current man is very different and I think that is exactly what Richarlison needs sometimes... a size 10 up the backside.

Sometimes I think that he thinks he is doing us a favour by playing for until something better comes along..

To be fair he does work hard for the team but I think there is so much more that can give with the talent he has.

He worked hard for the team. It slipped last year for me. Villa I think it was where he just couldn't be bothered to track Cash.

He needed a manager to get after him about fixing his weak points or fixing his position. We had neither and he's stagnated really. He's not better than the player who came from Watford. But he's 24 now and at this point he probably is who he is if he doesn't kick on soon.

It's disappointing really because you'd think a player who can naturally score goals like he does could work out how to recycle possession when appropriate and how to dribble into space without turning the ball over. But he really hasn't and it makes him a questionable winger. Just frustrating. And this Olympic stunt honestly I'd see what offers are around.

I wish we weren't so quick to dismiss and let go of our players. We are totally bipolar as a fan base. We love or hate our players irrationally, when all we really need to do is support them as long as they're ours? We need a manager and DoF who does the same, like how Pickford is being allowed to be made into an 'England' keeper, but he's ours. Richy is fine, he's young, there are so many different circumstances that have affected him, and like Mina and others, obviously he's going to feel more passionate and emotional playing for his country. But, what's really missing here is that we have not been a team with a united strong bond for more than 5 years. We can make people like Richy and others feel an emotional bond to his players and his club, and that has to come from the manager, coaches and captain. I'm sorry to say anything bad about Seamus because he's so great, but his nature might not be the right one to bond with all of our diverse group of players.

So I’m guessing not a single one of the people claiming he’s miserable, sulks every time he’s in blue and only wants to play for Brazil has actually watched him play for Brazil because guess what?! He’s also got that face on all game representing his beloved homeland. His attitude is how he plays, he’s narky and petulant because it gives him his edge.
If we don’t play the all out defence tactics from last season he’ll be better next year and I don’t want us to sell our best players.

Spot on, this.

Even when he scores he has a gob like a robber’s dog. He was poo for chunks of last season but the point about tactics was a good one. On paper he’s the kind of player that will thrive in a Benitez team.

Even though it's in "last year's" olympics I don't think it is fair to criticise someone for wanting to represent their country. Especially as there's a good chace of a medal in it to show off to future grandchildren, slightly more impressive than that 7th place in the Prem/League Cup semi finalist story.

I also think it doesn't help attract future players here to be seen as being difficult about it.

Personally i couldn't give a toss about the Olympics and neither do most of the other clubs that are not letting their important players go. You can understand him wanting to do it but the lad is an Everton player and that is where his loyalties should lie. Doing the Olympics effects Everton start to the season and hence it should be a non starter let alone Richy hanging out his dirty laundry in the Brazilian press.

Too many of these players have been on the receiving end of very poor management at Everton the last few years and that includes arm around your shoulder Carlo and you can see that reflected in their attitudes on and off the field. RB has been doing his homework on this and will already know that the attitude and mentality needs to change.

Going to be an interesting few weeks leading up to the start of the season and in some ways i am actually glad that we have got a Manager who will not molly coddle them.
