2021/22 Richarlison

85m is just not realistic. The players who go for that are largely speaking the most productive players in the world and/or the top young talents around. There may have been a window when he was coming off back to back seasons of 13 goals and just turned 23 where you could have aimed for a number that high and had an outside chance of convincing someone to pay it. That is gone now.

He's going to be 25 when the transfer window starts and past his window for development with the flaws of 23 year old Richarlison still truly in place but without the same production. I just can't imagine paying 50m for that personally much less 85m. I know that football is pretty crazy with some of the decision making so who knows, maybe there is a team that falls in love with him and forks over a crap ton. I just can't see it personally.

As far as what I'd do I'd gladly take 40m or whatever amount more we can get and reinvest it. We seemingly have no money and tons of holes in the team. I don't see Richarlison elevating us nearly enough to insist on holding on to. We already have decent enough replacements with Gordon and Gray. Invest some in a young winger and use the rest in midfield and defense.

Don’t agree with any of that mate.

Here’s what happening, people rate him they think hes worth a high value, others don’t therefore are lowballing his value.

I rate him highly, I think he’s worth a lot to us. You don’t, fairly snuff.

Basically it’s opinion.

….13 goals in 34 games for Brazil, lading scorer at last summers Olympics. The international stage is very high profile, he will be in demand I have no doubt about that, & demand means we can stand firm on a price.

if I was City, I’d swap him in an instant for Grealish.
I'd also take that swap for us. Man what an upgrade.

I think Richarlison actually makes some sense for City as a center forward, he would never in a million years get into a Pep side out wide, but why spend 75m on Richarlison when Erling Haaland has a release clause of 80m?

Maybe because Haaland would want about a million a week in wages, plus his agents a super snake ??

Looking at Utd trying to press in recent matches, you can see why they would be interested.

To my mind the arguments above are moot, I think we’ve done a disservice to DCL and Richarlison, I think we’ve stripped the squad of creativity and threat anything the lads come home with, they are making for themselves, I don’t think current stats are a reflection of their ability, I think if you put team in a team with support and talent your looking at top, top, players.

…I don’t disagree, Haaland is a better fit. I was just pointing out vfm, & I think Richarlison would’ve been more effective this season for City than Grealish.

The issue I'd have with this regarding Richarlison specifically is that if he's a wide player he is supposed to be the creativity at least to some extent. He's not and really hasn't been even when the team functioned on the whole way better than it has this season.

Do you think Richarlison is going to join City and ask for a discount?

Also Richarlison has just joined a new agency, I'm sure that's to make less money.

I am not suggesting that Richy is in any way better than Haaland, but that lad is in serious danger of being utterly ruined by his, or rather his agents/Dads, demands. Club wise.

Somehow I think he'll end up alright. You aren't really ruined if City won't come to the table so you have to join Real Madrid.

….he takes up more central goalscoring positions when the team has possession, so he’s not a conventional wide player knocking crosses into the box. He’ll do his bit defensively when the opposition have the ball.

The key has been the loss of Digne who was capable of providing that creativity from the left. Crazy selling him.
