No, we dont. We, like every UK footie fan, will accept a loss, but we will not accept a lack of effort.

We might lose cos the other team were just better, or a crap ref/VAR decision, or an individual error. Caution from a manger even. We will moan and fume, but thats normal.

We lose cos a team/player isnt arsed? Different candle mate.
It happens a couple times a season, if that. I don't feel that is the consensus though.

The Spurs game for example though was absolutely not down to a lack of effort. That's what I mean.

I wouldn’t say lack of effort exactly as in not running.

But lack of resilience, mental strength, “teamwork” etc. that are part of being “up for it”. Also these things because they are crap, but still.

The Spurs game, granted, was a tough away fixture against a duo in Son and Kane who could do that to almost anyone. But the Palace 4-0, for example, was an absolute capitulation that was partly because certain players stopped giving 100%, no doubt about it for me.

Fine, I'll give you Palace, it's still only a few times a season max it happens and we act like it is the main issue with the club.

Dont frame your opinion based on match threads on here mate. "Effort" isnt about running around. Its getting angry, having a go, winning your 1 to 1 battle, being embarrassed if you lose badly, calling team mates out. Not giving up. (Palace).

And its the same at every single level of football here. From the PL down to the Bristol Regional Sunday League.

And Richy displays that primal footballers desire.

Once a couple stop working hard it impacts on others and makes them look even worse than they probably are.
This will be one of the most informative pre-seasons in a long time.

Hopefully informative means most of them are hung, drawn and quartered.

I disagree that a majority of our players don't check those boxes most weeks. You're not going to convince me that our problems our mostly about those things you've listed and not the fact that our players aren't very good.

And some of them are because the players aren't very good! Jonjoe Kenny isn't losing his 1v1 battle because he doesn't care or isn't trying!

The players, technically, are elite. On any metric. Some could play at, and not be shown up, at elite clubs. So they are not poor footballers.

And I dont want to convince you about anything. You were the "Never been to Goodison" poster who told match going Blues that the stadium didnt play a part in how the team played at times. Clueless basically.

Richy displays the work and effort stuff that every football fan will appreciate, even if his end product may fall short.

Mate I'm talking about the differences between elite level players. I mean they aren't good on the scale of PL players and I think you know that. I'm well aware that even the worse professional players (ie League 2 type guys) would tear up any kickabout I show up at.

That's enough for today.

The united game should have put this argument to bed really. The players gave it absolutely everything against united, they were as up for it as any Everton side I’ve ever seen, and the crowd were backing them with everything they had. Despite that we scored one heavily deflected goal and our keeper was man of the match, because we’re absolutely rubbish no matter how hard we try. Another day we lose that game comfortably, and loads of people come on here and say they didn’t try. It’s become a proper joke now.

On topic I love richarlison and his effort but realistically getting big money for him in the summer should be good business.

But he is a striker. And he doesn't score very many goals. That is a bit of a problem, however angry he might get about stuff.

For us Moshiri is the problem because he stays too involved and doesn't let people do their job. Bill doesn't help I'm sure but Moshiri isn't going anywhere soon so he's going to have to take steps to fix it himself first and foremost.
I think this mentality problem was around long before Morshiri arrived on the scene, sure he has exacerbated it in his actions, but in no way did he start it.

It’s him, Allan, Seamus, and Godfrey for me that show that desire. Not sure the rest really have it.
