A player wanting to leave definitely affects his value. Especially if he publicly states he wants to go. This is the option / threat that players and agents keep as a back up. At that point, the club find it very difficult to keep him because the fans turn on him and performances usually drop. The buying club know this and it makes sense for all parties to reach a deal.
Of course it does but as much as we all love him my/our only interest is getting the best deal for Everton FC not keeping the player happy.

Balance that with this then :

Does he want to leave - He hasn’t said anything at all.

The club have told him that they want him to stay, that they want to build the team around him and he’ll be getting a massive bump on his contract. ( this is from someone I know very well, who has business dealings with his agent )

How about wait and see ?
He maybe hasn't outright demanded to leave but that doesn't mean he wouldn't be open to a move.

I think it's pretty unrealistic that he will want to stay at a team who just came 16th and were a complete shambles on and off the field.

Are we extremely desperate for money though?

Ornstein is saying we're like to accept a lower fee because we need the cash. We've currently got the Premier League having to ratify every little bit of business we do to make sure we're within the rules.

He’s very settled here. That counts for a lot too. Plus time is still on his side.

Yes, it is not impossible, sure. But for every one you can name, there are probably 20 who did go on to leave.
Not really mate, most players are sold at the price the selling club genuinely values him at.

If players wanting to leave had any real impact on their fee then teams like Madrid, United, Chelsea, Barca and PSG wouldn't constantly be having to pay absolutely top dollar for players as sure as hell the players they want are very much pushing for moves when they know they're interested.

He's done well for the club, he quite rightly wants to take another opportunity. If the fee is fair let him. 60m would be alright business.
