Have they though? Education is still free, you could get EMA up until this year and the benefits system is certainly about as sufficient as it has ever been. NHS is still free...ish.
It's not mate. Far from it. And when you've invested into that education, there's nothing at the end of it. I struggled (and continue to now...) with a top honours degree with an award labelling me as the best final year graduate.
Too much change, for the worse, to an already suffering "lost generation".
What's happening now was inevitable. You can only kick the back of some ones chair for so long....
