Roberto Martinez and Everton heading for £10million compensation battle

The chances of there being no settlement clause for early termination nor any form of acceptable performance criteria is extremely slim indeed.

Therefore it is extremely unlikely that we would have to pay the full value of the remaining contract. The £10 million figure quoted is just never going to happen.

Thank the Lord.

Remember when people were saying he should do the honourable thing and resign? LLLLLLOOOOOOOLLLLLLLLLL

Look, after his first season we all thought we had found "the one", so lets not focus to much on Kenwright giving him the big fat contract, the majority of people at the time praised it and didnt have a problem, maybe a slight short sightedness on Bills behalf by not entering some kind of clauses, but hey ho.

The fact is he didnt do a great job, but we still gotta pay the fella, thats just the way football works, so we "owe" him 3 years, he can either sit on his arse for the next 3 years and get paid by us or we box him off with a few mill and send him on his way, hopefully the utter fraud gets a job very soon and takes some of his recent signings with him.

One of my favorite posts on that thread is @Ashtonian , probably vaped out of his skull at the time.

AshtonianPlayer Valuation: £500k
Makes sense. We sign a manager who got his team relegated the season before. He comes in and does an excellent job and surpasses everyone's expectations as well as planning off the pitch as well as on.

So now as we are Everton we reward that and make sure he is part of the family.

Now Roberto can settle down and make sure his plan comes together and develops the club he has always wanted to be at. My gut feeling is that martinez will be one of our greatest managers. Don't know why but he just makes me think that.

Aye.

Said it before, after a 72 points season I was optimistic. As of May 2014 he looked like he could be an amazing manager for us. You also fail to mention I was one of the first calling for him to go when you all told me I was wrong.

But yeah #sorryforbackingthemanager

What a ridiculous comment.

A contract is a contract. Between TWO parties.

If one party did not fulfil their part of the contract - the other party is able to terminate it.

Obviously.

Doesn't mean you have to pay the entirity of the contract.

Thats like contracting a builder to build a house. He only builds half. Then demands the full amount without the house being complete.

i.e. ridiculous.

Which part of the contract did Martinez break?

I assume you've read his contract?

And why wouldn't we be optimistic? The players he had on loan were eventually signed & things were looking up. Then he Wiganised us!
