Did they?Think that's what I said although I don't get the part where Martinez twisted his words as opposed to the press.
The Echo put into quotes 'there's no chemistry between the players now'. No context and no qualification. And easy enough to read anything into it. Which plenty did without reading what he actually said.
No. Their headline and their initial quote had 'no chemistry'. Nothing to imply it was just on the pitch and none of the subdued language 'the chemistry is not quite there' implies it's not far off and achievable.
Different matter though. He hasn't criticised Baines contribution to the team. It's not really the issue though is it for most of us?
Our problem is his treatment of Baines, yet he gushes like BK over Lukaku's even more damaging comments the second he flies out of the country for international duty.
So most fans saying at time he wasn't fit is now not relevant
For me his position as Everton manager is on the cusp of untenable. Very poor results for 2 seasons in the league, blaming everything from the fans to the media, and now wanging arguably the most popular player at the club unceremoniously under the bus.
I love the way you twist every word spoken to suit your argument.Different matter though. He hasn't criticised Baines contribution to the team.
And as far as I remember he said nobody was bigger than the club with regards to Rom.
Why do you keep showing me the quote. I know it. And agree with it.
It's different in words, tone and possible implication from 'No chemistry between players' which is what many read. Baines chose to apologise for how it was used. No need to but he's an adult who likes to take responsibility

'When the facts change, I change my mind'. John Maynard KeynesNo one who backs him are wearing any *mask* of delight. It's a realistic assessment that he's a talented manager who can do a great job for us.
And no one is expecting you to wear a mask of any description: just remain at worst neutral and let him persuade you or otherwise with results and performances.
To listen to some you'd think we just hired the manager of Marine rather than a man with more trophies than the boring plant pot who Man Utd have just made the worst error of judgement in their history about.
I've read Baines quotes agreed with them but didn't take them as any rift between the players. I read plenty of papers and supporters implying it might.Did they?
Who are these people? As I've not read them misconstruing what Baines said and meant.
Martinez has made a senior pro apologise for something that didn't warrant any form of apology, that's the crux of it mate.
I think you're allowing your staunch defence stance on Bobby to cloud your vision on this one personally.

I've been a match going Blue since the days of Gordon Lee, and in all my time I can only remember wanting Walker to go as much as I do this fella now. He's not the right man to take this club to where it wants to be, especially now, under the stewardship of a man who can actually back the club financially. His wretched self absorbed 'philosophy' will ensure that we never attain the level of consistency we need in order to compete with the leading pack in this league. He's brought some positives in his time here, but overall he's failed to deliver and it's a results business.
He's lost 70% of the fanbase and yesterday imo will have ensured that he's now lost (if he hadn't already) a chunk of the dressing room. He's a dead man walking.
He has fallen to one side clearlyMate forgive me if i am wrong, but havent you said that your last stated position on yes or no with martinez was being on the fence?
Yes. And that's not effected in the slightest by yesterdayMate forgive me if i am wrong, but havent you said that your last stated position on yes or no with martinez was being on the fence?
Or obvious to everyone and they all need to get it rightDon't forget the end of the quote "and hasn't been for a while"
Implies it's obvious to the players for a while but nothing has improved
