Young players he has developed to get to this level.

Hes had to turn around a squad on limited resources in a couple of seasons.

Loads of players not good enough but taking wages who will be gone this summer...

invested in youth and stopgaps.

Etc etc

If hes developed these players then they should be overperforming relative to their wages and transfer fee so we should be higher than your 1+1 = 3 calculation would have us believe

He's spent a lot of money over 6 transfer windows and yet he still doesn't have the squad he wants. Demon in the transfer market. Lets give him more

Wow, I think literally none of that is true, is it?

  • 'Limited resources' Same money as all other Prem teams and out shone by Managers with arguably lesser starting points (Stoke, West Ham, Leicester)
  • 'Loads of players not good enough' - PARTIALLY TRUE, some ageing players... so why not play them / move them on rather than leave them to drag on the club's purses? Osman, Pienaar, Gibson et al looked fine under Moyes. Naismith was bought on a free, doing OK as a sub and he sold him and bough Niasse who's NOT FIT! He bough Alcaraz, Kone and squad fillers like Cleverley.
  • 'Invested in youth' - Barkley and Stones already here, Coleman has gone backwards. Yes, Del and Lukaku both done well and financially sound you are right here - that will be his saving grace finanically. Everything else he has touched has stagnated or gone backwards
  • Stopgaps -??? Who? If that's even acceptable as a policy, then we were crying out for a seasoned GROCK last season let alone this one after shipping Distain. And he buys.. Fumes Mori, who might be that in 2-3 more seasons.
RM is literally master of his own dis-jointed downfall, it's like looking at old Christmas decorations - time to come down.

Happy to ask the question again if you like. Will two consecutive seasons of 11-16th and no cup wins match your ambitions and be an acceptable return for your man?
What are your expectations for the season now so you are happy to give him longer?

The youth development thing is what has gotten me, I think its the biggest myth ever.

- We have seen very little promotion of youth from the U21's U18's besides players knocking on the door.
- Stones was here and from reports his ability has never been in question or coached so can't give him credit for that - credit for putting him in.
- Ross see above
- Deulofeu was one of the highest rated prospects in spain. He has gave him a chance, ill give him credit for the chance not development.
- Lukaku was a beast, however needed a coach to put him in week in week out, development wise? not sure.

The rest? don't see any players which would class as youth development in the slightest. Plenty of young players knocking on the door (last season ledson week in week out, and Dowell this year is pushing on massively) and despite older players not performing or being on the bench they don't get given a chance.

Its a myth... Myth i tell you.

I even disagree there. The squad where he has spent cash looks great. Where he hasn't yet looks weak.
Is it? I'm not going to be naive and say Martinez hasn't had some real successes in the transfer window as he has. Our squad is arguably better.

Yet when you look at our current setup there's a fair few Martinez signatures (be it some of them were frees) who are underperforming.

Our central midfield partnership shackles us as many mention. Barry has been exceptional in the mainstay this year, but it is Martinez's midfield.

The woeful left midfield issue has been regularly filled by players who Martinez brought to the club. The right wing is still regularly an issue as well.

Mori, who I personally like, still can't be deemed a success nor can Galloway as our defence is as leaky as Stick Vicky from Benidorm.

Kone? Well, I don't know what to say and how Niasse will eventually turn up is anyone's guess. Now that may all sound very negative...

... it's not meant to be. Our squad is stronger and yes there are still flaws and if he had more money then maybe the flaws would be less.

However, on numerous occasions this season the teams that have underperformed have been filled by Martinez signings in the majority.

The defence is a difficult one as yes it's primarily still a Moyes unit, so one view may be that he does needs to spend money there.

Yet, they're a proven unit so could it be along the lines that we do not need money spent there; rather they need to be utilised correctly.

Maybe that could be said about the squad as whole: Martinez signings and the 'relics' from the Moyes era.

For anyone arguing the leicester model.as if stsndard practice then why not send your CVs out to the other 19clubs in the league and tell them how its done.
Why do that when all we are doing is showing you what you are saying about budgets is nonsense excuse to keep a manager. I don't care about any other club other than my own. You on the otherhand are just happy to try win an argument at any cost even if what you actually believe is so laughable.
Thanks for cheering me up today pal by the way. Like listening to a 3 year old that can use a computer

Season isnt over yet....have some positivity!
My worry is that going into a semi final we are preparing ourselves for failure again. And it's not really whether fans want to lose it is about some preparing the blame rather than wanting it and seeing what happens.
To my mind it doesn't effect whether he's good enough or not. No one game does. But we shouldn't be going in focused as a club on anything else but winning it.
